Windrose: How to Unlock and Craft Gunpowder

Gunpowder is crucial for using firearms in Windrose, alongside a variety of bullets. You cannot shoot a firearm without gunpowder, which makes you more cautious when using the firearm in the early game. Defeating the enemies in the early biome will give you a decent amount of gunpowder, but it is not ideal for the mid and end-game. It is essential to unlock the potential to craft gunpowder by yourself to utilize your firearms to the full extent. In this guide, we will tell you how to unlock and craft Gunpowder in Windrose.

How to Unlock Gunpowder (Recipe) in Windrose

The Gunpowder recipe unlocks automatically by gathering Sulfur in the Foothills biome. It is a common resource found in the rock deposits. To get the Sulfur, you have to mine the rock deposits using at least the Iron Pickaxe. This means that before you can get Sulfur, you would have to do a lot of work, including completing the Coastal Jungle biome, mining Iron Ore in the Foothills biome, upgrading the Workbench to Level 2, and crafting the Iron Pickaxe. It will cost the following resources to craft an Iron Pickaxe.

• 5x Foothills Iron Ingot
• 5x Wood

Once you have the Iron Pickaxe, explore the Foothills island and look for stone deposits, particularly the ones with yellow marbling. Mine the Sulfur to unlock the Gunpowder recipe.

NOTE: Sulfur also spawns in the Coastal Jungle, but you will not be able to mine it due to a lack of an iron pickaxe.

How to Craft Gunpowder in Windrose

Unlocking the recipe for gunpowder is just the beginning before you can craft it. The next step to crafting the gunpowder is to get the “Millstones” station. To get the Millstones station, you will have to craft it, for which you have to get its recipe first. The Millstones recipe is unlocked automatically by collecting your first Corn. You can find the Corn around the Ancient Farms (POIs) in the Foothills biome. This is the same POI where you can gather the Fertile Soil to unlock the Farming. Once you have the Millstones recipe, you can craft it using the following resources.

• 15x Wood: Cut down the trees.
• 1x Millstone Parts: Craft at the Workbench (Level 2) using 15x Stone.

Now that you have the Millstones, you can finally craft the Gunpowder. Interact with the Millstones to find the “Homemade Gunpowder” recipe. Select it, and you can craft 10x Gunpowder with 10x Sulfur and 20x Ash.

TIP: You can get Ash easily by burning wood in the Charcoal Kiln.

I recommend burning any extra wood for Ash and going around the foothills island to farm Sulfur. This way, you will have plenty of resources to craft Gunpowder.
