Windrose: Where to Find the Gunpowder Crates (The Bitter Pill Quest)

The Bitter Pill is a side quest for Doctor Galen in Windrose. It is one of the difficult quests in the game and requires the player to be at least Level 9. However, this quest becomes available alongside the “Revenge is Best Served Cold” quest, in which you have to defeat Thomas Richards, the main boss in Coastal Jungle. Moreover, the Bitter Pill quest forces you into Richards’ camp to find a clue for the traitor. You cannot progress ahead in the Bitter Pill quest without defeating Thomas Richards. After finding the clue, the quest requires you to find Gunpowder Crates for solid proof. In this guide, we will tell you where to find the Gunpowder Crates during the Bitter Pill quest in Windrose.

Where to Find the Gunpowder Crates (The Bitter Pill Quest) – Windrose

The Gunpowder Crates that you need to find as solid proof are on the Blackbeard Ruins Excavation Site. It is in the Foothills biome, so you will have to sail further southwest of Richards’ Camp, where you found “François Arnaud’s Letter”. After showing the letter to Doctor Galen, head to the Blackbeard Ruins Excavation Site. Follow the blue marker on the map to reach the location easily.

After reaching the ruins site, look for a steel cage in the area. The Gunpowder Crates should be next to the steel cage tucked into the corner. Moreover, the crate’s spot will have sparkling around it, so it will be easy to see once you are near. The reason why a lot of players cannot find these crates is that they are labeled as the “Trade Company Crates”, not Gunpowder Crates.

After finding the crates, interact with them and go through the dialogues to complete the objective. This will give you 10x Homemade Gunpowder and 50 XP, and the quest will update. Now, you have to go back to Doctor Galen to inform him about the supply.

Find François Arnaud and Rescue His Son

The Bitter Pill quest does not end here. You have to go to Tortuga and confront François Arnaud. He would reveal that his son is being held hostage on the Grim Reaper ship. Now, you have to sail and find the Grim Reaper ship. Here, you have to engage in Naval combat to defeat two Blackbeard Ships and bring the Grim Reaper ship to low health.

After that, board the Grim Reaper ship and head down to the lower deck. Here, you will find Jacques Arnaud. Speak with him to learn that he was secretly working with the pirates and blackmailing his own father. After learning the truth, head back to Tortuga to speak with François Arnaud. Tell him about his son’s fate or lie; the choices really do not make any difference.

Once done, speak with Doctor Galen in Tortuga to inform him about his friend’s motive. Go through the dialogues, and the quest will conclude.
