Age of Wonders 4: How to Annex Province
Age of Wonders 4 has a number of unique mechanics that players will have to learn as they progress through the game. One of the crucial mechanics in the game is “Annexation” through which you can Annex Provinces and Ancient Wonders in the Realms. Annexing these territories will allow certain bonuses and resources for your domain which is crucial to growing your domain.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to Annex Provinces in Age of Wonders 4.
How to Annex Province in Age of Wonders 4
As you begin the game by constructing your outpost in a certain area, you will get to build cities around your main outpost to grow your domain. It is a crucial tactic as you have to spread your domain to new areas in order to Annex a Province of a different territory. You can Annex a Province by the following steps.
- At first, you need to build a City near a Province. In order to do that, you will have to create an Outpost in one of the Hex Tiles near the Province.
- Once your outpost is got enough populated, turn it into a city and you will get the option to Annex the nearby Province.
- Click on the Province to start the Annexation process and it will cost you a price of -5 City Stability which can be overcome by gaining useful resources from the annexed Province.

Now, not all provinces in the areas have the resources that you are looking for. Each of the provinces has 1 major resource that can be seen before you start Annexation. Once you have annexed the province, you do get the resources but in order to benefit from the claimed province, you need to build an Improvement for the same resource.
As an example, if a province has the most resource of fish, you can build the Fishery Improvement to get +5 Food for your population at every turn. So, you will have to select strategically to build the improvements to increase your resources to maintain the stability of your domain. If your stability gets worse, you can lose your claimed province to other territories.
