Blasphemous 2: Which Starting Weapon Should You Pick?
Picking the right starting weapon within a few minutes of starting a new Pilgrimage is important, and most players overlook this. The game presents players with three different weapon types, each with its own stats and special moves. However, what most players might not consider is that each of the weapons has a specific ability that will let players interact with certain items in the game levels. These interactions are crucial, as they allow players to complete the game.
If you are stuck at the very starting choice of choosing a starting weapon, then this guide is for you. It will assist you in picking the right starting weapon for your early hours of Blasphemous 2.
All Starting Weapons in Blasphemous 2
As players go through the tutorial and walk along the path, they will come across three different statues holding a specific type of weapon: a flail, a sword, and dual rapiers. Each weapon has different stats and abilities that players should consider when choosing the right one.
Flail: Veredicto
The Flail is a hard-hitting weapon with the most damage of the other two weapons. However, it has the slowest speed of the other two weapons but it is not much of a flaw as this weapon can hit the enemies in three different directions, Up, Front, and Down due to its arc. The major flaw of this weapon is that you cannot parry. Due to this, you would have to be more careful of the enemy attacks. The special move of this weapon allows you to hit enemies even harder with increased damage which will take you far in the game without any problem.
Dual Rapiers: Sarmiento and Centella
The Dual Rapiers has the lowest damage of the other two weapons but it has the highest speed that allows you to strike enemies quicker. The special ability allows you to slash through the enemies dealing a decent amount of damage. You can block as well as parry with the Dual Rapiers which gives them a slight edge in defeating enemies when vulnerable. However, the range of this weapon is low and you would have to be close to the enemies all the time which makes it not much of a viable choice. But if you are good at movement and the timing of parry is perfect then you would enjoy fast-paced but longer fights.
Sword: Ruego Al Alba
The Sword is the most balanced weapon of the other two weapons. It deals more damage than Rapiers and has a decent speed that allows you to hit enemies frequently. You can block and parry with the sword as well and its special move will do more damage to enemies. Other than that, you will also gain an edge to do a downward thrust attack while in the mid-air to hit the targets below you. The range of this weapon is also decent and you can evade attacks more easily.
Which Starting Weapon Should You Pick in Blasphemous 2?
We would recommend you pick the sword: Ruego Al Alba. The earlier stages of the game are not difficult for this weapon as you can easily defeat the earlier bosses of the game. You would also have to get the remaining two weapons in your playthrough to unlock special abilities, but the stages are far ahead in the journey. However, if you pick Ruego Al Alba, the journey to the locations of the other two weapons is concise, allowing you to unlock abilities more quickly.
