Barbarian and Sorcerer Classes Receive Most Buffs in Diablo IV Patch 1.1.1

During a recent livestream, Diablo IV developers shared their plans for future game support. The first season is set to commence in mid-July, although an exact date was not provided.

Amidst the broadcast, Rod Fergusson humorously opted to munch on cookies while the rest tried to captivate viewers with interesting information. Throughout the livestream, Blizzard representatives reiterated the same information with serious expressions. Amongst this continuous stream of details, it was revealed that in the first season, players will have the ability to teleport directly to the Nightmare Dungeon if it has been unlocked.

There will be no need to reopen the map, even when creating a new hero within the season. Discovered Lilith Altars will persist into the first season and beyond, while side quests and reputation with regions will need to be collected and completed anew.

The inventory system will undergo revisions, with precious gems having a separate “pocket” to avoid cluttering the main inventory and stash.

The topic of the defense system, specifically elemental resistances, was raised. Developers acknowledged that players struggle to comprehend the resistance mechanics. Physical armor provides protection against physical and half of elemental damage, while elemental resistances only offer protection against their corresponding elements. However, the higher a hero’s level, the less effective resistance becomes against non-physical damage. This aspect is currently working inaccurately, and developers plan to make adjustments closer to Season 2 to enhance clarity. Given the complexity of these changes, it will take some time to implement them.

Regarding priorities, new content will always take precedence as it impacts all players simultaneously. Mechanic adjustments will follow, unless they involve critical issues.

In terms of hardcore deaths due to force majeure, a system is being developed to instantly teleport characters to a safe location when the server no longer receives signals from players. This aims to protect players in case of disconnections. As the “disconnect protection” is still in progress, the mechanics may change, and it will not be introduced before the second season.

The issue of items dropping for other classes will be resolved within a couple of weeks.

The conversation later transitioned into answering player questions, but no truly useful information was disclosed, including details about the content to expect at the start of Diablo IV’s first season.

Further information about Season 1 was promised during the next livestream.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
