Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Complete An Alarming Development Quest

An Alarming Development is the second Friendship Quest for Oswald that players will be able to pursue once they have completed Oswald’s Many Dimensions quest and reached Friendship Level 4 with him. This guide will walk you through An Alarming Development quest for Oswald in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Complete An Alarming Development Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Starting the Quest

An Alarming Development quest becomes available upon completing Oswald’s Many Dimensions quest and reaching Friendship Level 4 with him. You can find the quest under the Quests’ Menu and make it an active quest. To initiate the quest, find Oswald and speak with him to find out that he is both sad and over-rested.

Gather the Materials for crafting a set of Oswaldian Alarm Clocks

After speaking with Oswald, you will be tasked with gathering a ton of materials to craft a set of Oswaldian Alarm Clocks. The materials that you need to gather are the following.

  • 35x Mechanical Parts – Obtained from crafting at a Crafting Station.
  • 15x Bronze Ingot – Obtained from crafting at a Crafting Station.
  • 50x Plastic Scrap – Obtained from fishing in the open water (no ripples/bubbles) anywhere on Eternity Isle.
  • 10x Zinc – Obtained from mining the nodes in the Wild Tangle biome.

It will take you some time to gather all of these materials and it is better to have a mining friend with you to get extra minerals as Mechanical Parts and Bronze Ingots will take the most time.

Once you have gathered all of the required materials, go to a crafting station and interact with it. Navigate to the Functional Items tab to craft Oswaldian Alarm Clocks. Now, bring the Alarm Clocks to Oswald and then check back with Oswald in 10 minutes.

Catch the Runaway Alarm Clocks

Speaking to Oswald after 10 minutes will reveal that all of his Alarm Clocks are on the loose and they might just wake up everybody in Eternity Isle. There will be seven runaway clocks that you need to catch at the following locations.

  • Charleston: The Docks area in the Ancient’s Landing biome.
  • Foxtrot: The Oasis area in the Glittering Dunes biome.
  • Texas Tommy: The Promenade area in the Wild Tangle biome.
  • Lindy Hop: The Plains area in the Glittering Dunes biome.
  • Tango: The Wastes area in the Glittering Dunes biome.
  • Shimmy: The Grasslands area in the Wild Tangle biome.
  • Swing: The Lagoon area in the Wild Tangle biome.

Run behind them and press the interaction button when you get close to catch them. Once you have caught all seven runaway clocks, bring them to Oswald and speak with him.

Find Fugitive Clocks

Apart from the seven runaway clocks, Oswald will mention that there are three other clocks that are in hiding. You can find these fugitive clocks at the following locations.

  • Rumba: Go to The Docks area in the Ancient’s Landing biome and look for Orange Ripples in the water with an alarming sound. Start fishing in the orange ripple to get Rumba.
  • Conga: Go to The Lagoon area in the Wild Tangle biome and head towards the top of the waterfall that is dropping into The Grove area and you will hear an alarming sound beneath a rock. Use the Royal Pickaxe to break the rock and get Conga.
  • Waltz: Go to The Borderlands area in the Glittering Dunes biome and go to the northeast side to find Waltz getting a good tan. Use the Royal Shovel to dig it out.

After finding the last three Alarm Clocks, bring them to Oswald and speak with him.

Bring Olaf to Calm Down Oswaldian Alarm Clocks

Meet Olaf and speak with him to see if he can calm down Oswaldian Alarm Clocks. After speaking to him, go to Oswald’s House to meet Olaf and Oswald. Olaf will start his bedtime story which will surprisingly put all the Alarm Clocks to sleep.

Gather Resources to craft Oswald’s Black (and White) Coffee

Once the Alarm Clocks are asleep, speak with Oswald to talk about the consequences that Alarm Clocks brought to Eternity Isle. Oswald will give you four Oswaldian Garlic and tell you to craft a special Black and White coffee for every sleepy villager on Eternity Isle. Before you craft the coffee for every sleepy villager, you need to gather the following resources.

  • 40x Coal Ore – Obtained by mining the nodes in the Valley and removing the Night Thorns.
  • 28x Pearl – Obtained by digging the ground in all the areas of the Ancient’s Landing biome.
  • 4x Oswaldian Garlic – Given by Oswald during the quest.

Upon gathering all the resources, go to the crafting station and interact with it. Navigate to the Potion & Enhancement tab to craft four Oswald’s Black (and White) Coffees.

Distribute Oswald’s Black (and White) Coffee to Sleepy Villagers

After crafting the coffees, you need to distribute them to the following villagers.

  • Merlin
  • Rapunzel
  • Gaston
  • Scrooge McDuck

Open the map to find them in Eternity Isle and head over to them to give them the coffee. Once you have distributed the coffee to the villagers, speak with Oswald.

Prepare a Friendship Picnic for Oswald and Stitch

You need to decorate any area to prepare a Friendship Picnic for Oswald and Stitch. Go into the Requests section of the Furniture Menu to find the valid furniture items that you need to place down. Place the furniture items matching with the following descriptions.

  • 2x White Furniture
  • 2x Black Furniture
  • 2x Quirky Furniture
  • 2x Seats

Once done, speak to Oswald and he will give you the Cartoon Parasol. Place it down as well and then take a picture with Oswald and Stitch in the picnic area.

Completing the Quest

After preparing a successful Friendship Picnic for Oswald and Stitch, speak with Oswald to conclude the quest.

  • 880 Friendship Points
  • Oswaldian Alarm Clock

Playing Video Games is the very first hobby that I partake in and it became my favorite hobby. Played Unreal Tournament 2004 as my first game which made me a fan of FPS Games. Story and Adventure Games are still my Cup of Tea to go with as they give more detailing to the described worlds and characters. I love to help out my fellow gamers across all over the world by making my publications.
