Farming Simulator 22: Crop Comparison and Profitability
The following page compares the different types of crops in Farming Simulator 22. You will learn: which plants are the most profitable to cultivate, what yields they generate, what are the differences in the purchase prices of given plants.
The table below presents a comparison of the profitability of crops:
- The highest purchase prices are rounded – in a given month the price may fluctuate during the day, moreover, the price is also influenced by the supply and demand system.
- Prices are based on “medium” economic difficulties . On the lower difficulty level, they will be several dozen percent higher.
- The amount of harvest is given in liters per 1 hectare of field.
- It should be remembered that grains generate additional straw, which is worth about 1/4 of the price of grain.
- Estimated profit = harvest amount x highest purchase price.
The name of the plant | Harvesting rate (liters per hectare) | The highest purchase price | The month in which the price is highest | Estimated profit per hectare |
Wheat | 17,000 | €800 | January | € 13,600 |
Barley | 19,000 | €700 | January | €13,300 |
Oat | 11,000 | €1,200 | January | €13 200 |
Sorghum | 16,000 | € 950 | January | €15 200 |
Rape | 11,000 | € 1,300 | December | €14 300 |
Soy | 9,000 | €1,800 | July | €16,200 |
sunflower | 10,000 | €1,500 | March | €15,000 |
Corn | 18,000 | € 800 | January | €14,500 |
Potatoes | 80,000 | € 350 | January | €28,000 |
Beetroot | 110,000 | € 300 | January | €33,000 |
Sugarcane | 100,000 | € 250 | July | €25,000 |
Cotton | 10,000 | €2,500 | March | €25,000 |
In addition to direct profitability, other aspects should also be taken into account: harvesting speed, machine prices, storage methods, additional use (processing/animal feed). For example: potatoes and beetroot are among the most profitable crops in procurement, but they can only be stored on the ground, so you also need to consider the loading system (e.g. conveyor belts).
In addition, harvesters are only used to harvest one crop and cost a lot of money. By contrast, although soybeans are not a viable crop (neither financially nor because they are not used in processing and breeding), they generate the lowest yields that are easy to store on a trailer and transport to a store. A sunflower with a suitable header is also harvested faster than maize.
