How to Buy and Sell Items in Final Fantasy XVI
Players can choose to buy new gear items and consumables from the vendors as well as sell the gear items, accessories, consumables, and materials to vendors. The vendors can be found in different regions of the World of Valisthea and the very first vendor that players will get to meet is Charon who owns a shop named Charon’s Toll in the Hideaway region. Players will get to meet Charon for the first time during the Hide, Hideaway mission and after talking to her, Shops will be unlocked for players where they can Buy and Sell all sorts of Items.
Upon unlocking the shop, talk to Charon to browse her shop and buy the Gear Items or Consumables from her. Players can switch between the Gear Items and Consumables by using the L1 and R1 Buttons and buy the item by holding down the X Button.
To sell the items, press the R2 Button to switch to Sell Tab and then sell the items in different categories by holding down the X Button. The items can also be sold by pressing the Touchpad while in the Sell Tab but it will sell all the Valuables of the certain category that Clive is holding.

In the beginning, buying and selling will not make much of a difference but as players progress in the story, they will get to hold various Gear Items. At that point, players can choose to sell the items that they don’t need to free up space in the inventory as well as make money on the side.
