How to Get a Horse in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a pretty big map that players will have to explore throughout the game. Just like in its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom also has a Tame mechanic that will allow you to get yourself a Horse to traverse greater distances more easily. You would not want to run across the whole map as it will cost you a lot of time so, it is best that you get a horse as soon as possible in the game.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get a Horse in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Get a Horse in Tears of the Kingdom
Horses can be found in a small groups running around in the fields throughout the Hyrule World. In order to mount the Horse successfully, you will have to sneak up behind it and then tame it. You will have to Tame the horse in order to successfully mount it. If you fail in taming, the horse will kick you off of its back and run away.
To find the horses, you need to go towards the area of the field. There is one near the Lookout Landing area of the map. You need to go towards the Southeast from the Lookout Landing and you will reach a Stable named “Riverside Stable” in the Hyrule Field area. You need to go directly in front of the stable and you will see a number of horses running around in the fields. You need to Crouch by pressing the Left Stick and sneak up behind a horse.
If you run or walk, the horse will get scared and run away so, you must sneak up on the horse. Keep walking behind it and when you get the “Mount” prompt on the screen, press the A Button to mount the horse. Now, the taming sequence will start where you will have to press the L Button repeatedly to soothe the Horse. Once you have soothed the horse, it will stop jumping and you will be able to control it.

How to Register a Horse in Tears of the Kingdom
Once you have got yourself a horse, make sure to keep soothing it so, it obeys your orders. Otherwise, the horse will not go in the direction that you intended to go so, keep soothing it and you need to register it. Registering the Horse is very important as it will save the Horse. So, if you have lost the horse or are very far from the horse, you can go to the Stable where you registered it and you will get the Horseback.
One of the early stables that you will come by is the “Riverside Stable” so, make your way to the Stable and you need to press the ZL + A Buttons together to talk to Stable Owner. You need to select the “Register Horse” option to register your horse and you will also be able to see the stats of your horse in the stable. The very first Registration of the Horse will be Free but if you register more horses in the future in any stable, it will cost you 20 Stables.

You can also name your registered horses so, feel free to give them a name and make sure to tame more horses as you visit more regions of the Hyrule World.
