How to Unlock the Camera in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Hyrule World is filled with Beautiful and Lively Towns as well as Deadly Gloom areas that players will get to explore as they traverse through the surface. As you come by the structures, you might want to take a picture of them using the Camera in your Purah Pad. That’s Right, your Purah Pad has a Camera that can be used to take pictures of anything in the Hyrule World. If you want to save a picture of Flying Hyrule Castle then use the Camera on Purah Pad. However, the Camera instructions are not told from the start of the game, so you will have to unlock it in order to use it.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to Unlock the Camera in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Unlock the Camera in Tears of the Kingdom
The Camera is considered one of the locked abilities of Link in the game that you can unlock pretty early in the game. It is tied to a Side Quest named “Camera Work in the Depths”. This quest will be given to you by Josha once you have unlocked the Paraglider. You can find Josha in the Research Department of Lookout Landing.
Once you have accepted the quest, you need to go in the South direction from Lookout Landing to reach the Depths entrance. Jump inside the depth and open your Paraglider to safely go down. Once there, talk to an NPC named “Ponnick” and he will tell you to go in the west direction to find Robbie. You need to use the Brightbloom Seed to light up the dark areas in the depths and make your way to the first Lightroot to activate it. It will illuminate all the darkness in a certain area.
Now, continue on in the West Direction to reach the second Lightroot. You will have to be careful because there will be normal enemies as well as the Gloom Enemies that deal Gloom damage. Make sure to take them out by using the Bomb Flowers on your Arrows as it will kill them immediately. Once you have made your way to the second Lightroot, activate it and you will find Robbie.

Talk to him and he will tell you about the Camera in your Purah Pad and it will unlock the Camera Ability along with the Hyrule Compendium Tab in the Purah Pad that stores the photos of anything related to Weapons, Enemies, and Statues. Now, hold the L Button and switch to Camera Ability to open up the camera. Take a picture of the statue and show it to Robbie. After that, Fast Travel to Lookout Landing and talk to Josha to complete the quest and you will be able to use the Camera Ability freely in the game.
