Madden NFL 21 was released on August 28 and immediately received a flurry of criticism for a large number of problems of a different nature. Based on feedback on Steam and Reddit, the game is full of bugs, and on top of all this, the focus has once again shifted towards Madden Ultimate Tournament with microtransactions, as in FIFA Ultimate Team.
Errors and bugs, which complaint about the players were different: ranging from problems with textures and finishing incorrect hitboxes ball.
Players also noticed other negligence and mistakes. For example, a photo of one of the players was not used in PNG, which is why the background covered the club logo.
And in another case, the player Mac Strong was named Mac Stone.
As a result, players began to massively underestimate the game’s user rating on Metacritic and also created the hashtag NFLdropEA, urging the NFL to revoke EA’s license or at least require fixes.
Even former player T.J. Lang joined in the discontent.
Together, the players achieved the fact that the user rating of NFL 21 on Metacritic was the lowest in the history of the aggregator – 0.4 out of 10. For comparison, this is even below 0.6 in Warcraft III: Reforged.
When asked on Google, the results page also gives an extremely low rating for the game, and when shown to lead gameplay designer Clint Odinberg, he said 2 is better than 1.
However, after a while, the rating on the page with the issuance of requests dropped to 1.5 points out of 5.
Many reviews note that NFL 21 as a whole has not changed for the better from the previous part and has only become worse.
Broken and exactly the same simulator that encourages kids to gamble. No attempts to remedy the situation for several years.
There is nowhere below. This game is marketed as a simulator, but it doesn’t even try to show a simulation of real football. The developers brushed aside the target audience and screwed up in an attempt to attract new players, making the new modes boring.
A copy and paste of Madden 20 with the same bugs that have been present for several years. There is no excuse for this indifference to the product.
EA is a joke for sports games and has been that way for years.
The creators of Madden NFL themselves have not yet responded to the criticism.
