Palia: Cooking 101 Quest – Walkthrough

As players are welcomed to Palia, they will encounter several NPCs who offer fairly straightforward starting quests. However, the Cooking 101 quest is somewhat different, as it introduces players to a unique mechanic called Focus. Unfortunately, the game does not adequately explain how this mechanic works. Moreover, one of the objectives of the quest is to use 50 Focus, which can be a bit confusing for new players. In this guide, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to successfully complete the Cooking 101 Quest in Palia.

Cooking 101 – Quest Walkthrough

Initiate the quest by speaking to Reth for the first time to receive the Cooking 101 quest.

Craft the Campfire

Your initial objective is to craft a Campfire within your plot area. To do so, gather the following materials:

• 5x Sapwood
• 16x Stone
• 2x Flint
• 10x Plant Fiber

These materials can all be found near your plot area. Collect Sapwood and Plant Fiber by felling trees and bushes, while Stone and Flint can be obtained by mining rocks. Once you have acquired all the necessary materials, proceed to the Worktable and craft the campfire.

Place the Campfire on your plot

After crafting the Campfire, position it within your plot area. Use the appropriate shortcut key associated with the inventory block where the Campfire is stored, then Left-Click to place it.

Forage for Mushrooms

You need to gather 3 Mountain Morels, which grow around the plot area. Search the vicinity to locate these mushrooms on the ground.

Cook the Mushrooms

Once you have collected the mushrooms, approach the campfire and prepare the Grilled Mushroom recipe. The cooking process will take approximately 15 seconds. When the recipe is ready, press the ‘F’ button to retrieve it from the campfire.

Consume a Grilled Mushroom to Gain Focus

After cooking the Grilled Mushroom recipe, equip it from your inventory and consume it. This action will grant you 50 Focus.

Utilize 50 Focus

Focus serves to enhance the experience gained from various activities such as foraging, mining, fishing, cooking, and hunting. To utilize Focus, explore the Palia world map and gather items from the ground. Keep in mind that using Emerald Carpet Moss or Crystal Lake Lotus will consume 3 Focus instead of 1.

Return to Reth

Once you have utilized 50 Focus, make your way back to Reth and engage in a conversation with him.
