Remnant 2: Best Starting Archetype

Remnant 2 is a Soul-Like game but with guns and revive mechanics which might be interesting and a unique experience for souls-like fans. There are several roles of domination that players can choose from in Remnant 2. Players will get to select an Archetype at the end of the tutorial of the game. Archetypes are basically the classes that have their own set of abilities, strengths, passives, and weaknesses. Choosing the archetype in Remnant 2 can be confusing especially if the players are not familiar with how classes work and which class is best for which type of playstyle.

In this guide, we’ll be telling you the best archetype to start with in Remnant 2.

All Archetypes in Remnant 2

All the players will start the game with the Hunter Archetype and at the completion of the tutorial, players will be asked to choose the preferred archetype for themselves. There will be 4 base archetypes or 5 if the player has pre-ordered the game. The base 5 archetypes of the game will consist of Challenger, Handler, Hunter, Gunslinger, and Medic. The Gunslinger archetype comes with a pre-order and only those players will get the chance to pick it if they want.

However, there are a total of 10 Archetypes in Remnant 2, and the rest of the archetypes can be unlocked by crafting and equipping their engram. So, as players progress in the game, they will get to witness new archetypes which will include Alchemist, Engineer, Explorer, Invader, and Summoner. Nonetheless, the players will get to only start with the base archetypes and as they progress, they will unlock the ability to merge themselves with another class which will allow them to switch between the classes. So, to play the other classes, players must progress, gather resources to craft, and equip their engrams to unlock them.

If you ask us, we will tell you to go with Handler Archetype because of the buffs that its companion dog gives to the teammates, and also it revives any down player, even yourself. We will discuss all of the starting archetypes down below and give you a brief introduction to each class so, you can make up your mind about which class you are most comfortable with.

Handler

Handler is the most independent class in the game as it allows players to have more versatility in their playstyle. The companion dog can be ordered to attack enemies, call back, or even help out a party member. The dog not only attacks the enemies but will howl and grant all allies defensive buffs. Handler’s Prime Perk Bonded will allow the dog to revive Handler automatically when he goes down and allies can also be revived when they are downed. Players can also increase the buffs granted by the dog by simply petting the dog.

Handler is the best support archetype in the game and it is also the best choice if you are playing co-op with friends.

Medic

Medic is another great choice especially, if you want to help out your teammates. As the name suggests, Medic can provide a full heal to an ally as well as provide them with damage resistance bonuses to keep them alive throughout the battle. It is most effective against bosses and can instantly revive downed teammates. Every co-op party must need a Medic Archetype and if you think you can be a good healer for your team then think no more.

Gunslinger

If you want to be an unstoppable powerhouse with an infinite amount of firepower then the Gunslinger is the archetype for you. Gunslinger is a DPS archetype and can shoot guns with almost unlimited ammo. The Prime Perk Loaded allows Gunslinger to shoot the gun with no reload and an infinite amount of ammo for a period of time.

Hunter

Hunter is also a great support class that allows players to deal high damage to enemies from a distance. It is a sniper class and will spot enemies for the team even through the walls. Hunter also provides a buff of additional crit chances to allies to deal more damage to spotted enemies. The Prime Perk of Hunter allows players to deal high damage on the weak spots of the enemies/bosses.

Challenger

Challenger is the Tank archetype that specializes in dealing high damage with Melee Weapons only while taking damage from enemies like a brute. The metal armor allows the challenger to take less damage from enemies and the challenger can also use a shotgun which allows him to be always in close range of enemies and deal damage to them. However, the main drawback of this archetype is that it is not effective against flying monsters or enemies.

That is all related to Best starting Archetype in Remnant 2. Remnant 2 is available on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X & S, and PC.
