Starfield: How to Unlock Skills

Starfield offers over 80 different skills which are divided over 5 different categories. Each category has over 15 different skills which enhance the respective physical abilities of the character. Players start with random 3 Starting Skills based on the character’s background so, while choosing the Background, it can be essential to look at the skills you are getting. However, as players progress in the game, they will get to unlock unconstrained skills for their character to enhance the play style.

How to Unlock Skills in Starfield

Players will get to unlock skills from the 5 different Skill categories in Starfield.

• Physical
• Social
• Combat
• Science
• Tech

All of the categories enhance the physical abilities of the character by unlocking new skills as well as upgrading the ranks of the owned skills. To unlock the skills in Starfield is comparatively simpler than most RPGs out there. Players will require Skill Points to unlock new Skills from any of the categories. Skills Points are obtained by leveling up the character and each level will give 1x Skill Point.

Once players have leveled up a character, they can unlock a new skill by going into the menu of the game and selecting the Skills section which is at the top right corner. Selecting the Skills will open a menu with all 5 categories of the skills. Players need to simply select a category from which they want to unlock the skill and then select the skill by pressing the A Button to unlock it.

Keep in mind that the skills that are down in the category will require more XP and progression to unlock so, once you have progressed enough into the main story and reached a certain level, you will be able to unlock the more advanced skills.
