The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Get the Legendary Durandal Sword

After completing the Prologue of the Blood of Dawnwalker, the world opens up for you to explore, along with hunting down the three main bosses for the main story. Although the main story is important, so is finding good gear that can help you in tougher fights. One of the best weapons that you can acquire in the early game is the Durandal sword. It is a Legendary sword with high DPS that you can use almost throughout the game. In this guide, we will explain how to get the Legendary Durandal Sword in the Blood of Dawnwalker.

How to Get the Legendary Durandal Sword in The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Durandal Sword is part of the side quest called “The Cursed Chasm”, which you can initiate by speaking with the Innkeeper in Svartau City’s tavern. Speak with the Innkeeper and ask him if he has heard anything interesting lately, and the quest will be added to the journal.

TIP: Pursue this quest during the nighttime so that you can use the Shadowstep (teleport) ability.

Investigate the Broken Bridge

If you have the quest, it will show you a quest marker on the map, leading you west of the Coward’s Path (Shrine) to a broken bridge. Follow the quest marker and make your way to the bridge to investigate the bridge and the cart.

NOTE: If you have not initiated the quest from the innkeeper, discovering the broken bridge at the location will automatically trigger the quest.

After investigating the cart, you can pick up the Special Orders (Note) and some Denarius (currency).

Investigate the Surroundings

Now, you need to head down the mountain to investigate the rest of the carriage. However, you have to be careful, as you will encounter wolves and Echoes. Echoes are dangerous, so I do not recommend fighting them at all. That is the main reason why I recommend pursuing this quest at night. This way, you can use the Shadowstep to position yourself on the rocky path above the carriage to loot it without triggering the encounter with Echoes and Wolves.

TIP: Create a manual save after reaching the bottom of the mountain.

The way you want to do this is to go down the mountain, but do not go into the red-highlighted area. Instead, teleport on the rocky path above the area and go slowly towards the carriage until you see the “Loot” prompt on the screen. Looting the carriage will give you the following items.

• Durandal (Legendary Sword)
• Recipe: Minor Balm of Fortitude
• Nobleman’s Black Bracers (Rare armor piece)
• Denarius

Upon looting the carriage, the Cursed Chasm will conclude. However, the Echoes will spawn immediately in the area, so you must run away as soon as possible. Do not fight the Echoes; run away to get out of the encounter.
