The media reported a possible hostage-taking in the building of the Ubisoft Montreal office-apparently, it was a false call

On the evening of November 13, the Montreal media and several eyewitnesses on social networks reported that police surrounded the Ubisoft Montreal office building on Boulevard Saint-Laurent. At the same time, photos and videos from the scene appeared on the web.
According to eyewitnesses, police arrived at the corner of Saint-Laurent and Saint-Viator at about 13: 30 local time and cordoned off the entire area, launching an operation. There were messages on the official accounts of the Montreal Police Department asking them to avoid the block as much as possible.
Le Journal de Montreal reported that police cordoned off the building of the business center, which houses several Ubisoft offices and other businesses. A helicopter managed to take a photo of several dozen people who had gathered there and barricaded the exit to the terrace.
Some Ubisoft employees, in turn, said on Twitter that they had already been evacuated and sent home, but some of their colleagues are still inside.
A report by local TV network TVA Nouvelles said that several police squads arrived at the scene. Local law enforcement agencies said they sent employees to the scene after they received a call about a hostage situation.
Around 15:30 local time, police began to peacefully remove people from the office building.
According to local media reports, the call about the incident was false. The same was confirmed by local reporters.
