Xbox CEO Phil Spencer lashes out at Sony
At a media briefing earlier this week, Xbox chief Phil Spencer walked veiledly across Sony, criticizing PlayStation’s strategy to release PC games.
The fact is that the approach of the Japanese company in this regard is strikingly different from Microsoft. While games from Xbox Game Studios are released simultaneously on Xbox and PC, immediately falling into the Game Pass subscription, Sony’s policy is to give its exclusives to computers not immediately, but after a while, and only at full price.
“We’re the only platform with games coming out simultaneously on PC, consoles and in the cloud. Others release console games on PC a few years after release, not only forcing them to buy their hardware in advance, but also re-charging money to play on the PC.”
Although Xbox chief Phil Spencer did not mention Sony directly, it is clear that they were talking about it. After the PlayStation was no longer the only platform for Sony exclusives, only Nintendo of the big console three has yet to release its games on the PC.
Sony recently confirmed that it will continue to release console exclusives on personal computers. The company still considers PlayStation the best place to play its games, but it sees an importance in the PC audience and plans to continue publishing certain titles on the platform.
According to rumors, the next port will be Uncharted 4, which appeared in one of the latest reports from the company.
