Windrose: How to Upgrade Weapons and Gear

Surviving through the Golden Age of Piracy in Windrose will let you encounter all types of enemies, from wild animals to undead creatures. In order to progress through the story and strengthen your character, you would also have to eliminate the biomes’ bosses. The boss fights are challenging and require careful preparation and strategy before you take them. For better survival chances, it is best to upgrade your weapons and gear whenever you can. In this guide, we will tell you how to upgrade weapons and gear in Windrose.

How to Upgrade Weapons and Gear in Windrose

You can upgrade the weapons and gear at their corresponding workshop stations in Windrose. Weapons are upgraded at the Weaponsmith Workshop, and the armor/clothing pieces are upgraded at the Armor and Clothing Workshop. You get the recipe for both of these stations early in the game by pursuing the Tutorial questline. Once you have these stations, you can interact with them to craft, upgrade, and ascend your arsenal.

How to Upgrade and Ascend Weapons in Windrose

As mentioned above, upgrading or ascending the weapons will require a Weaponsmith Workshop. Crafting a Weaponsmith Workshop costs the following resources.

• 10x Wood: Cut down the trees.
• 5x Copper Ingot: Craft at the Smelting Furnace using Copper Ores and Charcoal.

NOTE: To use the Weaponsmith Workshop, you must put it under a roof.

Interact with the Weaponsmith Workshop to see the known crafting recipes for the weapons. To upgrade your current weapons, switch to the “Upgrade” tab by pressing D and contribute the resources. Upgrading the weapons improves their overall stats and increases their gear level.

Now, to ascend a weapon, which is leveling it up to a high-tier, switch to the “Ascend” tab by pressing D and contribute the resources. Ascending a weapon requires a current-tier weapon and a Tumbaga Ingot, an ancient resource. Upon ascending a weapon, your weapon will gain new perks. It does not affect damage or gear level, only grants new perks.

If you want to improve stats, then upgrade the weapons, and if you want to improve the rarity for better perks, then ascend the weapons.

How to Upgrade Gear in Windrose

Similar to the weapons, upgrading the gear will require the Armor and Clothing Workshop. To craft the Armor and Clothing Workshop, you will need the following resources.

• 5x Wood: Cut down the trees.
• 10x Coarse Fabric: Craft at the workbench.

NOTE: To use the Armor and Clothing Workshop, you must put it under a roof.

Interact with the Armor and Clothing Workshop to see the known crafting recipes for all the armor and clothing pieces. To upgrade the current armor pieces, switch to the “Upgrade” tab by pressing D and contribute the resources for the armor piece you wish to upgrade. Upgrading the armor improves the overall stats and its gear level. For better defense stats, upgrading your armor pieces is essential.

However, there is no Ascend option for the armor pieces. It means you cannot upgrade the tier of an armor piece nor get new perks for it. That is why finding good armor pieces with better perks is crucial in Windrose. You can keep upgrading those armor pieces to reach the end-game level content.
