Windrose: How to Get Hardwood

Windrose will have you gather a variety of resources throughout your journey to build, craft, and survive. As you progress in the main story, you will always have to be on the lookout for newer resources. You will be using these new resources for better upgrades, crafting, and general progression. One such essential mid-game resource is Hardwood. It is used for making weapons, ship materials, and more. In this guide, we will tell you how to get Hardwood in Windrose.

How to Get Hardwood in Windrose

The Hardwood is a common resource in Windrose that drops from cutting down Divi-Divi Trees in the Foothills biome. Divi-Divi trees spawn mostly in the middle of the Foothills Islands, so you will have to head to the center of an island to look for them. Moreover, Divi-Divi trees are much bigger, and you need at least a Copper Axe to cut them down. If you don’t have a Copper Axe, make sure to make one at the Workbench. To gather the Hardwood, equip the Copper Axe, and hit the Divi-Divi tree. It will drop regular wood, Hardwood, and Tree Bark.

There will be plenty of Divi-Divi trees on the island. You can easily farm the Hardwood by cutting down all the trees. However, be careful of the goats in the areas, as they attack surprisingly.

How to Get to the Foothills Biome

There is no specific location of the Foothills biome, because the map is generated procedurally for every player. If you have not completed the first biome, the Coastal Jungle, it will be difficult for you to locate the Foothills biome. I recommend completing the Coastal Jungle biome first by defeating Thomas Richards (boss). After that, the main story quest will lead you to the Foothills biome.

Once there, you can start gathering all the key, major, and other resources in the biome. Moreover, as you gather these resources, you will unlock the corresponding recipes.
