Crusader Kings III: how to build new possessions - all info

As the ruler of your domain, you are also responsible for expanding the structures. For this, it is often necessary to first build a new property. Our guide explains how to do it.

Crusader Kings III: Build new possessions – this is how it works

The overview of the possible new possessions in Crusader Kings III can be found in the window at the bottom left after you have selected your domain. Below the profile picture of your ruler is the slots for the possessions; empty slots (with a square bracket facing up) mean that theoretically new possessions could be built there.

  • Select the slot and then double-click on “Create New Ownership” below.
  • The three options “Castle”, “City” and “Temple” now appear in an additional window.
  • Important: In addition to gold and a few years of time, your culture needs the innovation of urban planning – this applies to the construction of a city as well as a temple.
  • The corresponding innovation is also necessary for the construction of a castle.
  • In addition, if building new properties is possible, you have to pay attention to the maximum in your domain in the upper right corner of the screen. You should not exceed this; in a pinch, it helps to give a vassal property.

With new possessions, your empire becomes more powerful, as you (depending on the building type) expand the army, improve your income or increase the supply threshold, the defender advantage, and the fortress level. The ability to give possessions to vassals can also be an important tactical option.

You should therefore not only look at the expansion outwards but also always pay attention to the intrinsic value of your domain.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
