Farming Simulator 22: Combine, machine assemblies

Here we describe the ways of connecting machines in Farming Simulator 22: what machines can be connected, what are the types of connections, how to connect trailers.

General Information

In Farming Simulator 22 it is possible to connect multiple machines with each other. This is especially important in the case of work with small equipment: such machines are easiest to combine into groups of machines so that several activities can be performed in one pass. The basis is logic: there is no need to combine the subsoiler with the cultivator, as they basically do the same job and it will not bring any additional benefits. Second thing: connection systems. Pay attention to the handles on the machines – those that contain them on both sides can most often be used as an “assembly”.

Remember that when you use several devices connected to your tractor at the same time, the power required to operate them adds up - so you need tractors with better engines to be able to use two machines at full capacity. The weight load also increases - therefore setting machines on one axle will require a counterweight in the form of another machine or weight.

Direction of work

Directivity – the vast majority of machines can only work in one direction. The exceptions are some machines, such as selected mulchers, mowers, sprayers, rollers, and rollers.

This can be confusing with machines such as the subsoiler: you can attach it to the front of the tractor – however, if the blades are not directed forward, it will not be able to work while driving forward. In the picture above, the subsoiler will not be able to work when the tractor is moving forward.

Connection types

The type of connections offered is the basis for connecting machines. The most common ones are ball hooks and pin hooks. If the vehicle does not have a double coupling or conforms to the visible type, it will not be possible to couple the machines together.

Information about the hitch is not given at the machines - you only rely on observation.

The tractors have multiple hitch points, so you can connect any type of machine. It is different with other machines.

The second main type of connection is a connection-point ( 3-point Connector ) -, used by tractors. What to look for?

• Some machines can be coupled with each other if they have such attachments, both at the front and at the rear.
• Not every tractor has this type of hitch at the front.
• If the device has a visible PTO shaft (1) , it means that it will use the tractor’s drive, which will reduce its power when the device is turned on. Each tractor with a three-arm handle at the front has a connection to the shaft.

Every tractor that has a three-point connection (regardless of whether it is rear or front) also has a PTO shaft connection, even if it is not visible at first glance.

Cardan shaft

Shaft driven machines need a proper connection to draw power from the propelling vehicle. Each tractor has this connection, but other machines usually do not. Therefore, as in this example, the shaft is not connected, and therefore the loader wagon will not work – but there is nothing to prevent it from being transported freely with a vehicle other than a tractor.

Connecting trailers

It is possible to combine several trailers into a team. However, you must pay attention to what trailers you want to connect with – as before, they must have the right hooks.

The first trailer should have axles only at the rear, without the front moving axle – it will be easier for you to steer them.

• Subsequent trailers do not have to be of the same type – but they must have a pin attachment.
• Remember that a few trailers can weigh a lot, especially when filled.
• Switch between trailers to disconnect the desired one.
• It is best to attach trailers to the team, starting with the last one – the more trailers, the harder it is to maneuver to add more.
• You may have a problem with unloading trailers when you want to use a tipper for rear dumping, and another trailer is attached behind the indicated trailer.

Connecting trailers is a good way to transport many goods at the same time, it also allows you to separate them into many smaller transport works. In addition, you can buy more, instead of abandoning a large amount of money at once.
