Forspoken is a Single Player Action-Adventure game in which players will get to explore the world of Athia. Players will find different types of resources in Athia which can be used to upgrade the Gear of the character to increase the stats of Frey. Upgrading is one of the important mechanics in the game as upgrades will help players to defeat difficult enemies more easily.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to Upgrade Gear in Forspoken.
How to Unlock Upgrading Gear Ability
Players will get to unlock different abilities as they progressed through the main story of the game. One of the abilities that players can learn in the game is upgrading their gear. The upgrade mechanic is unlocked in the 3rd Chapter: Interloper. Players will learn it from a little girl character named “Olevia” in the City of Cipal.
How Upgrading Gear Works
Frey’s Gear consists of different gear items. There are three gear items in total that Frey can equip. All of the items have their own perks and boosts to the stats of Frey. The three gear items of Frey are the following.
The cloak is the first gear that your character will equip in the 3rd chapter. Later on in the chapter, you will get your hands on the Necklace and the Nails. Cloak’s and Necklace’s perks can be upgraded by interacting with the Crafting Table or sitting in the camp. Whereas, the Nails can only be replaced with newer and stronger designs.
As players progress through the game, they will find new Cloaks, Necklaces, and Nails that will enhance the stats of Frey. To upgrade the gear, you will have to access any crafting station and go into the “Upgrade” Section. There you will see all the gear items and all the effects that you can add to them. Effects will require certain materials which can be gathered while exploring in Athia or by looting the Chests.
Hold down the X Button while hovering over an effect to add it to the gear and it will increase the stat of Frey by a significant Percentage. You can also do the upgrades while camping. While sitting in your camp, select the Upgrade option to view the upgrades of your gear items and then upgrade their effects by using the materials.
Make sure to upgrade the gear more than changing the gear because a new gear will not have the effects you upgraded in your previous gear item. Upgrading your previous gear item is most useful than the new ones but the new ones might hold more effects than the previous one. You will have to make the decision on which gear you want to equip and which you want to store.
