GTA 6 Top Rumors: Vice City and Hacker Girl among the Main Characters

Rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 are getting bigger and bigger. The game hasn’t even been announced yet, but there’s little doubt that Rockstar is developing a sequel to its flagship series – and one of the most popular franchises in the gaming industry. Since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 it’s been, it’s scary to say, almost 8 years. But what will it be? And about what? In what setting? And when will it be released? We have collected the main rumors about the new part of Grand Theft Auto.

Location

The most likely option is Vice City. This city has not appeared in the series for a long time – the last time the players were in it was in 2006 when Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories was released. In addition, few fans of the series will argue that the GTA-version of the sunny Miami, and even with references to the “Scarface” – one of the most memorable sets in the popular franchise. And it looks like the most likely scenario because rumors of Vice City as a GTA 6 setting have been surfacing as early as 2019. And more recently, in June 2021, this rumor was backed up by renowned gaming journalist and game industry author Jason Schreyer, as well as insider Tom Henderson, who claims to have received information from a familiar Rockstar employee. They have stated that the events of the new game will unfold specifically in Vice City. According to them, it will be a modern version of Vice City.

The least likely option is London. It is the only real city that has ever appeared in GTA, namely Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, which was released in 1999. The likelihood that Rockstar will return to this setting is extremely low, but it still exists – Dan Hauser, the company’s co-founder, said so in 2013.

The protagonists

Yes, that’s right, heroes – in the plural. Schreier and Henderson claim that the central characters of GTA 6 will include a hacker girl. Rockstar seems to think the idea of three main characters in GTA 5 is a success!

Online mode

A lot of attention, if we believe Schreier and Henderson, Rockstar is paying to the online mode of the next part of the series. Henderson said that the game’s world will be developing, it will be constantly updated and expanded with DLC. Though, there is nothing unexpected in it – it is the way the extremely successful GTA Online, which was released shortly after GTA 5, is working now. It seems that the company is completely satisfied with the multiplayer side of the series – and it’s obvious that it will be developed in GTA 6.

Realism

After Red Dead Redemption 2, which was extremely realistic in every sense, it was logical to assume that Rockstar studio will try to tell the most believable story and create the most realistic gameplay mechanics in the new Grand Theft Auto. This is especially true when it comes to driving cars. Many fans still think, that in GTA 4 car physics was really good (and hardly distinguishable from the reality), but in the fifth part of the series, it was noticeably simplified. However, according to 2019 rumors, the new GTA won’t be as realistic as Red Dead Redemption 2.

Release date

According to the same insider Tom Henderson, the new part of the series is in early development and won’t appear until 2024 at the earliest.
