Major Spike Scallion is the best free Merc in the game with the starting Level 8. He is the best Leader in the game with trait points of 85 in Leadership, the highest in the game. All of the core stats of Major are above 80 and the highest stat of him is the Marksmanship with 92 trait points. However, hiring Major is the trickiest in the game as it is the end-game merc that players can recruit if they play their cards right.

How to Hire Major in Jagged Alliance 3

The first time that players will get to see Major is when Biff’s event shows up. Players can choose to help Biff out or kill him for the sake of a diamond worth $50,000. However, saving Biff or not will not much matter in the case of hiring Major but there are a couple of things that players need to consider to trigger the hiring option for Major.

• Don’t progress with Corazon.
• Gain influence over Major

It is important to leave the questline for Corazon if players want to hire Major because Major hates Corazon and it will give players a plus point in hiring Major for free as he will accept to work with you in taking down Corazon. Now, to get to Major, players will have to progress on with the main quest which is saving the President. Major is going to kill the President and players will have to stop him from doing that.

Go to Sector A20 to save the president from Legion enemies as well as Major and his guards. Make sure not to kill the Major, only deplete his HP to make him surrender. Once Major has been defeated, players need to talk to him and select the following dialogues to gain influence over him.

• We will destroy your Legion (requires a high Leadership)
• Your Legion could have performed better

After the conversation, it will unlock the hiring Major dialogue but keep on asking normal questions and ask if Major has any evidence against Corazon. It will give more evidence against Corazon and after that, players can select the following dialogues to hire Major.
