Microtransactions have been added to DOOM Eternal. Developers previously claimed there would be none

On April 29, 2021, id Software released two paid gear sets for DOOM Eternal: the Unicorn and the Episode One Bundle . Initially, they were available for free – for example, the Series One Cosmetic Pack could be opened during the first in-game event, which took place immediately after the release of DOOM Eternal, and the Unicorn was handed out on Twitch.
Now the sets can be bought: “Unicorn” is sold on Russian Steam for $4.77, Series One Cosmetic Pack – for $8.63. However, there was a problem with the bundles: according to Steam users, when purchasing the Unicorn, the content of the first episode bundle is given out – and vice versa.

In addition, game director Hugo Martin of the game in January 2020, even before the release of DOOM Eternal, claimed that there would be no microtransactions in the shooter .
The id Software studio did not comment on the change in its position on micropayments.
DOOM Eternal is a $ 60 game, not shareware or mobile game. We give you a complete experience without an in-game store, that is, exactly what you expect from us.

Previously, the developers also released a paid Rip ‘N Tear set, but before that it was not available for free – it could only be obtained by pre-ordering the game.
DOOM Eternal was released at the end of March 2020. According to analysts from SuperData, by the end of 2020, the game’s revenue in digital reached $ 454 million.
