Tons of new details on Metroid Dread in their third official report: arsenal, abilities, and more

The new Metroid Dread report confirms that there will be a new trailer next week

Here comes an interesting message related to one of the most anticipated games in the Nintendo Switch catalog.

In the text that we leave you below, Nintendo offers us content related to the third report of the game, which focuses on the history of the series, the arsenal, the skills, and more. Remember that you have the last one here.

Here it is:

Welcome to the Metroid Dread report! This series of articles will provide the latest news on Metroid Dread for Nintendo Switch and the world of the Metroid series, along with first-hand information provided by the game’s development team.

The original Metroid installment was released in Japan in 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System, a whopping 35 years ago! Later it would land in North America and Europe for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Whether you’re new to the series or haven’t been out on an adventure with Samus in a while, here’s a close-up look at seven key takeaways that make Metroid games so special.

Samus Aran

The protagonist of the series is an expert bounty hunter who has faced multiple galactic threats on her own and defeated them. In fact, she is said to be the most powerful warrior in the entire galaxy.

Despite the fact that her fame is undeniable, very few know her true identity.

Development team transmission ~

“Many people know Samus from the Super Smash Bros. series. By the way, the fighter Samus Zero, who also appears in Super Smash Bros., is the same Samus, but without her costume.”

“It seems like, in Metroid Dread, Samus’s costume has changed a lot compared to previous installments. This is because the organic suit that Samus wore in Metroid Fusion, which underwent a profound transformation after the attack of the X parasites and the injection of the vaccine made from Metroid DNA, has gradually recovered its original, more mechanical appearance. . »

The Metroid

These enigmatic floating life forms possess the terrifying ability to adhere to other organisms and absorb their energy.

Originally, the metroids were artificially created by the Chozo, a race of intelligent beings who wished to spread harmony throughout the galaxy. Her objective was to use them to destroy the dangerous X parasites, coming from the planet SR388.

Some have tried to use the Metroid as a weapon due to its ability to absorb energy, which has sparked countless conflicts in the past around this species.

The Galactic Federation ordered Samus to head to planet SR388 to eradicate the Metroid. After successfully completing the mission, she returned with a baby Metroid. The first being to see said baby was Samus, which is why she identified her as her mother. Shortly after, a confrontation with the space pirates occurred due to the hatchling, and finally, this one ended up valiantly sacrificing herself to save Samus. The species would eventually become completely extinct as a result of one of Samus’s subsequent missions.

During the events of Metroid Dread, the Metroids have already ceased to exist.

“If you have never played the series, you may not know that the being that looks like a jellyfish is the famous” Metroid “that gives the game its name. Perhaps even some of you have believed that Metroid was the name of Samus … »

“The word ‘Metroid means ‘the ultimate warrior’ in the language of the Chozo.”

“Although the Metroids are already extinct by the time the events of Metroid Dread unfold, it is interesting to speculate on the role they might play in the story.”

35 years of history

To this day, Metroid’s history spans 35 years. The series debuted with the original Metroid installment in 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System console in Japan. Later, the game was also released in North America and Europe for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 and 1988, respectively.

The original Metroid game marked the beginning of the story arc generally known as “the 2D Metroid series,” chronicling the strange relationship between Samus Aran and the Metroids. Other games continued this story and, with Metroid Dread, it ends.

Metroid (Japan: 1986 / Europe: 1988)

The first Metroid game focuses on the confrontation between Samus and the space pirates on the planet Zebes. Later, an improved version of the game was released for the Game Boy Advance titled Metroid: Zero Mission.

You can enjoy the original NES delivery on Nintendo Switch thanks to the Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online * application.

Metroid II (1992)

The Galactic Federation sends Samus to the planet SR388 to take down the dangerous Metroid. After completing the mission, she returns with a baby Metroid that she is very fond of. This installment was later revised and expanded with Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS family consoles.

Super Metroid (1994)

The space pirates return to steal the Metroid hatchling and use it for nefarious purposes. Samus travels back to the planet Zebes to get her back and finish off the space pirates once and for all.

You can enjoy Super Metroid on Nintendo Switch thanks to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online * application.

Metroid Fusion (2002)

Onboard the Biometrox Space Laboratories (BSL), a space station, Samus faces the terrifying X, parasites capable of overpowering organic beings and copying them from their genetic information. In addition, a deadly full-featured copy of Samus also lurks around the station: the SA-X.

~ Development team transmission ~

“We developed Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid: Samus Returns, which are remakes of the first two games in the series, but no brand-new game has been released for 19 years. That means half of the series’ 35-year history has been spent waiting to find out what happens next. For this reason, we have worked very carefully, and we hope that you all enjoy the game and the surprises that await you. “

“At the beginning of the game there will be a summary of the story so far, so if you have never played the series, you can immerse yourself in it instantly.”

Exploration

The games in the Metroid series do not follow the classic pattern of completing linear levels. They are action and exploration titles in which you must travel a labyrinthine world, and obtain new objects and weapons along the way to access more areas, and thus discover new locations and escape routes.

The appearance of the Metroid Dread map has evolved from previous installments: it used to be made up of simple cells, but now it has more details and shows the different types of terrain. Knowing how to read and navigate the map is very useful.

~ Development team transmission ~

“As the essence of the Metroid series lies in exploring the environment, it was clear from the beginning that we had to focus on the map, the cornerstone of exploration. The new minimap is an improved version of older, more traditional maps in terms of appearance and functionality. We believe that thanks to him, you will be able to explore the world much more easily. “

“In addition, Metroid Dread allows you to explore more freely than in other installments, so you can plan different strategies and play again and again.”

Arsenal and skills

Samus’s arsenal includes a wide variety of weapons. With her cannon, She can fire rays, the usual attack; missiles, which are more powerful but can only be carried in limited quantities by Samus; and bombs, capable of destroying certain walls and obstacles.

Aside from weapons, Samus’ physical and special abilities will increase as you explore and discover new abilities.

By gaining more powers, Samus will be able to pass through doors that previously blocked her way, as well as overcome obstacles and access new areas during her mission.

~ Development team transmission ~

In fact, Samus’s equipment, like her suit and cannon, are technology from the Chozo civilization. When Samus was very young, she lost her parents in a tragic event, so she was raised by the Chozo on the planet Zebes. “

“During this period, she received a Chozo DNA transplant, allowing him to adapt to environments hostile to humans.”

“On the planet ZDR, where Metroid Dread takes place, you will discover certain details that shed light on the Chozo civilization and that, perhaps, somehow connect with the history of the game.”

Parasites X

These parasites are one of the deadliest life forms in the universe. They can live at the expense of organic beings, both living and dead, and use their genetic information to completely copy them.

The meteoroids were created by the Chozo to destroy the X parasites. Samus reduced them to stardust along with SR388, the homeworld of this terrible threat.

~ Development team transmission ~

The story of this game begins with a mysterious transmission that suggests that some X parasite is still alive. Samus was attacked by these parasites and initially eradicated the species in Metroid Fusion… »

Did the Xs survive, or is it something else? It’s up to you to find out … »

In the next installment …

In the next installment of the Metroid Dread report, we’ll talk about the history of the series thus far. It will be available soon!

Lst Ark: Servers are shutting down today to allow more fans to play

Lost Ark: Tier 1 Island Route

On February 11th the new MMORPG Lost Ark was released in its Free2Play version for all people who just want to try it. That’s a lot though, which is why the game is still struggling with server issues. That should change now.

Update 8:05 a.m.: The servers are now down.

When will the servers shut down? As announced by Amazon via the Lost Ark official website, the servers will go offline this morning, that is, on February 13, at 8 a.m. GMT.

The downtime affects all European servers equally and you will not be able to log into the game in the meantime.

How long will they stay offline? The maintenance work is planned for about 3 hours. So if all goes well, you’ll be able to return to the world of Arkesia at 11 a.m.

We’ll keep you up to date in the live ticker when the servers return and if there will be any delays again.

Lost Ark’s last scheduled server maintenance was scheduled for 4 hours, but ended up lasting over 10 hours, leading to some negative reviews on Steam.

Why are the servers going down? Since Lost Ark was released, the new MMORPG has been struggling with long queues and server problems. At the prime time on February 12, more than 1.3 million people played the action game at the same time.

This also meant that some servers had to be completely closed to new players. Especially the server Asta, on which many German players gather, is affected by long queues.

Sometimes the fans have to wait up to 6 hours just to log in. Incidentally, this only works if you already have a character on the Asta server. New players were completely denied access until the evening hours of February 12th.

To address this situation, Amazon is working with Smilegate to increase server capacity. At this point, however, they are not telling us exactly how this is supposed to work.

Are the queues gone then? No, probably not. In the blog post, the publishers emphasize that they only want to create the basic framework for further updates and more server capacities during the downtime.

We, therefore, do not assume that you will be able to continue gambling directly at 11 a.m. without queues, even if that would be desirable.

Lost Ark: An exact time when the servers will go online

Lost Ark: Tier 2 Island Route

Today at 6 p.m. the Lost Ark servers should (re)open to all players after the scheduled maintenance. But nothing will come of the official Lost Ark Launch! The launch is delayed due to “deployment issues”.

An exact time when the servers will go online again has not yet been announced. “We hope that this problem will be fixed in a few hours,” the announcement simply says.

We’ll keep you posted on updates here!

Unfortunately, the launch has been delayed due to deployment issues. We hope this will be fixed in a few hours.

Your patience is appreciated and we will update you soon.

Restart Lost Ark Client

We have received important information from the Community Team. Waiting in the server screen doesn’t seem to help. The server list does not appear there automatically. So a reboot is required.

Waiting at the server screen won’t help, as it will require a fresh launch of the client as far as I’m aware.

You can read our guide for Lost Ark here.

New pioneer package with server change in Lost Ark

Lost Ark guide: List of runes and their effects

Lost Ark has been better received than many thought. Even Amazon did not expect this rush. And so there were long queues on some servers, as was the case with New World. Since a real server change is not possible, many players simply created a new character on a new server. However, some of these players have already redeemed their pioneer package on the first server and thus used it up unnecessarily.

As Amazon has now announced, we will get an additional set of exclusive items on the new server. These items are bound to the character and thus cannot be traded. They can soon be redeemed on every new server.

During the Head Start period for Lost Ark, a massive number of heroes arrived in Arkesia. While we are thrilled to have so many players joining us, we also recognize that this has brought about large queues on our more popular servers, leading to a less than ideal experience for these players.

In an effort to improve the player experience for those who have faced queues, we will be taking several steps to put preventative measures in place ahead of our full launch tomorrow morning, in addition to addressing some of the outstanding issues surrounding Founder’s Pack claims.

Founder’s Pack Redemptions

Players have let us know one of the reasons they are reluctant to switch to lower population servers is because many of them have already redeemed their Founder’s Packs on another server. To help combat this and make exploring new servers a more reasonable choice, we will be granting ALL Founder’s Pack purchasers that redeem their pack by 12 PM PT (8 PM UTC) on Monday, February 14th with an extra set of the exclusive items from the Founder’s Pack they redeemed (e.g., the Founder’s Exclusive Pet and Founder’s Title from the Bronze pack; see full list below) as well as some additional Royal Crystals for Silver, Gold, and Platinum Pack purchasers. These items will not be tradeable, and will be delivered to a player’s Product Inventory so they can be claimed on a new server. Your original Founder’s Pack will not be affected by this, and will remain on the initial server where you redeemed it (or in your Product Inventory, if you have not yet redeemed it).

We are currently working to get these item grants ready to go, and will update players when they are ready to claim — these will be claimable on any new server you choose, so in the meantime we encourage you to find a perfect server to call home.

For example, there will be Starter Packs available for purchase at full launch tomorrow (more details to come), and we highly recommend only redeeming them once you settle into your permanent home server.
