How to Investigate in Detective Pikachu Returns
Investigating is the primary step of getting the clues in Detective Pikachu Returns. As Tim and Pikachu get new cases, they will be able to visit the places with points of interest where they can inspect certain areas to gather clues. Clues can be gathered by two different types of investigation.
- Inspecting the areas.
- Interviewing People and Pokemon.
The areas that can be inspected will prompt a magnifying glass. You need to press the A Button upon seeing the magnifying glass to inspect the area to find clues in the area. Major clues in the area will also prompt the magnifying glass icon and pressing the A button on each clue will let you gather the clue and save it to the journal. Once you are done inspecting the area by finding all of the clues, you can press the B Button to stop investigating the area.

Interviewing people and Pokemon has a different mechanic as it does not require you to inspect the individual but ask them questions related to the case. Several questions will appear on the screen and you need to select all of them one by one to get the most information regarding the case or an anomaly of the case which can help you solve the case as well.
All the clues and important information can be seen in the journal from where you can make important decisions for the case to proceed ahead in the case to eventually solve the case.
