Farming Simulator 22: Growth monitoring
This page describes how to monitor crops and harvest in Farming Simulator 22: How to use the map using filters, how to determine purchase prices, how to use the cultivation calendar, how to check the condition of stored plants.
Map manipulation – filters
The default map settings show the types of plants that grow in the fields. Using the tab on the right you can control the filters. You are most interested in the items ” Growth ” and ” Soil composition “. The first tab will show you the growth stage of the plants and remind you which ones are suitable for harvesting. You will also suspect whether the soil in the field is prepared: cultivated or plowed.
The red color " Remove foliage " applies to beets and potatoes: their tops must be cut off harvesting before harvesting with a combine.
The second tab will probably be used even more often, as it indicates:
- Have weeds appeared in the fields,
- Field fertilization level ( may be obscured by weeds ),
- Does the field require periodic plowing,
- Does the field require periodic liming (liming is also necessary on newly created fields).
You won’t learn from the map:
- Has the field been mulched and does it require
- Whether the field was rolled or required (unless you roll before sowing/planting),
- At what stage of growth are weeds,
- When or what the field has been fertilized with,
- Is there anything left in the field to be harvested besides the harvest: grass clippings or straw, for example?
The map is gone?
If you accidentally “clicked something and everything disappeared”, ie you don’t see the right frame of filters or colors on the map, you have probably switched to build mode: press the second button on the bottom panel to go back to the turret preview.
Crop calendar
Calendar crops ( Crop Calendar ) is one of the tabs in the game. It tells you when you can plant and harvest certain plants by month. If you set more days per month in the game options (default day is month), the calendar layout will not change. Use it to effectively plan when to plant and harvest.
- Green color means sowing/planting time, orange – harvest time,
- The calendar is the same for every map in the game,
- No plant or combination of plants can achieve a double harvest in a year,
- It doesn’t matter if you sow/harvest in the first or second month. Extending the time the plants spend in the fields will not affect the yield.
If you forget to collect your plants during the harvest season, you will lose them. So start harvesting as early as possible, especially since harvesting in rain/snow will reduce the yield, so you have enough time to plan your work.
Purchase prices
In the fifth tab of the store, you can view the inventory of plants stored in silos (raw materials stored in machines / on the ground are not counted). From this list, selecting a specific item, you will see collection points, which, after selecting, can be marked on the map ( Enter by default ). You will also see and compare their currently offered prices for 1000 liters of the product.
To know exactly when to sell your stocks, select the second button ” Show Price Fluctuations ” from the bottom panel to show the price fluctuations over the year. These fluctuations are constant for each plant: ie wheat will always have the highest buying-in prices in January and the lowest in August. Despite this indication, there are still two elements to keep in mind:
- Regardless of the theoretical purchase price, everyone will have their own limits.
- By purchasing factories from the map, you eliminate potential purchase prices.
- Prices fluctuate around the clock: if you want the most lucrative offer, skip the time until the trader’s prices stabilize at the upper limit.
- The economy in the game has a supply and demand system: if, for example, you sell each harvest of rapeseed at once, especially in one purchase, the demand for this commodity will drop, because there is a lot of it on the market – then its price will drop. In that case, it would be better to store the harvest and wait for a better price, process it, or sow something else for a change.
Purchase prices also depend on the difficulty level, namely Economic Difficulty: an option that you can change in the game options during the game.
