Chapter 1: The Shadow Over London – Walkthrough

Go through the first cutscene and when you get control of Sherlock, go to the table to gather the following pieces of evidence.

  • London Advertiser – September 28, 1882
  • Book from Barnes

You will also have to pick the Letter from Verner but it is not the evidence. After getting the pieces of evidence, go through the cutscene and your first investigation will begin named “The Strand is Missing”. Go out of your apartment building and you will unlock the 221B Baker Street location which you can fast-travel later in the game.

Go to the bin just to the side of the entrance of the apartment building and interact with it. You will find the following pieces of evidence.

  • The Strand Newspaper
  • Cactus Pine, Potentially Poisoned

Talk to Newspaper Boy

The Strand Newspaper will update the “The Strand is Missing” investigation. Now, cross the street and talk to the Newspaper Boy. Select the option “What happened to my newspaper?” to proceed ahead in the investigation. It will follow up with three new dialogues that you will have to ask the Newspaper Boy. After the conversation, you will get Newsboy’s Testimony evidence.

After that, you will get to solve the puzzle “Who Ruined the Strand” with the Mind Palace mechanic. Open the Case Book and switch to Mind Palace. Here, you will have to interlink the Black Circles with the Evidence to solve the puzzle. The evidence will be represented by Blue and Green orbs so, by interlinking the correct evidence, you will solve the puzzle.

Newsboy

To solve the “Who Ruined the Strand” puzzle, interlink the Black Circles with “Book from Barnes” and “Newsboy’s Testimony”. It will solve the puzzle and you will get the answer “Barnes, the local bookseller, ruined the Strand”. By solving the puzzle, you will unlock the evidence named “Mr. Barnes is involved in the Scheme”.

Visit Book from Barnes

Now, you need to go to Barnes Book Shop. Open the Map in the menu and pin the Book from Barnes Shop. You can ask the normal people on the road for the location of the shop as well. To reach the shop, go to the right side of Newsboy and take the first left. Follow the road and you will reach the Book from Barnes Shop.

Now, go inside the shop and you will see Barnes at the counter. Approach Mr. Barnes and you will get the “Observe” option. Select the observe option to gather information about Mr. Barnes to create a character portrait of him. You need to focus on the Yellow Wisps on Mr. Barnes to gather the information. There will be four points of Yellow Wisps on his entire body so, make sure to gather all the information. Once you have gathered information, select the “Workaholic” option.

Mr. Barnes Character Portrait

After that, go through the cutscene, and then you will get to gather more evidence in Barnes Book Shop. Go to the counter to find “Exotic Plants Catalogue” evidence and then go to the front window of the shop to find “Dead Flowers on Display” evidence. Once you have gathered the pieces of evidence, go outside of the shop.

Talk to Mrs. Flemming

After getting out of the shop, you will see a Florist across the street. Walk to her flowers and investigate the Two Roses and the Cactus Plant. You will get the following pieces of evidence.

  • Roses for Sale
  • Cactus in a Cracked Pot

Now, interact with Mrs. Flemming and you will get to Observe her as well. Observe all of the Yellow Wisp areas on her body to create her Character Portrait. There will be a total of five Yellow Wisps Points that you need to observe and then you need to select the “Ready to move on” option. After observing Mrs.  Flemming, you will get the option to “Provide Evidence” to her. You need to select the following pieces of evidence from your book.

  • Cactus in a Cracked Pot
  • Character Portrait: Mr. Barnes
  • Dead Flowers on Display

After the conversation, you will get to solve the “Why is Barnes acting so strangely?”. Go to the Mind Palace in the menu and select the “Why is Barnes acting so strangely?” puzzle. Interlink the following pieces of evidence with the Black Circles to solve the puzzle.

  • Dead Flowers on Display
  • Cactus in a Cracked Pot
  • Mrs. Flemming on Mr. Barnes
Evidence

Choosing this evidence will solve the puzzle and you will unlock the evidence named “Mr. Barnes is in love with Mrs. Flemming”. Now, go inside the Book from Barnes Shop again and call out Barnes from the locked door. Select the Yellow Options in the dialogues to confront Barnes and he will come out. After that, select the option “I know what to do” and then eventually, you will get the Strand Paper which will be the “The Strand – September 28, 1882” evidence. After that, you can leave the shop.

Go to Stenwick’s Mansion

As you get out of the Book Shop, Doctor Watson will tell you more about the case and after the cutscene, you will have to go to Stenwick’s Mansion. Stenwick’s Mansion is straight down the street. As you go down the street, you will reach a mansion with open doors. Go through the doors to trigger a cutscene. After the cutscene, talk to Stenwick to know more about his missing Servant. Select all of the Yellow Dialogue Options and you will get the “Captain Stenwick’s Testimony” evidence.

Now, you need to go to the Garden and investigate why would the servant run away. You need to investigate the garden thoroughly, to find the following pieces of evidence.

  • Footprints in Captain Stenwick’s Garden
  • Chewing Tobacco Remnants
  • A Lock with an Unusual Key

These three will be the main evidence that you need to get. You will also notice that you will be able to imagine the situation but since you do not have all the information yet, you will have to find the rest of the scenarios. Now, move inside the Shack and find the following pieces of evidence.

  • Spyglass
  • Clothes made of Hessian

These two will be the main evidence that you need to get from the Shack. By investigating the Garden and the Shack, you will be able to imagine 3 Scenes. So, there will be two more Scenes that you will get to shortly but first, you will have to go back to Captain Stenwick and provide him with the Evidence. Ask him about all 5 Major pieces of Evidence mentioned above. After talking to him, go back to the Shack and examine the missing key to unlock the 4th Scene. Now, go outside and examine the logs to unlock the 5th Scene.

Imagination

Now, put the Scenes in the following Scenarios to create the perfect image of the whole Scene.

  • Scene 1 > Scenario 3
  • Scene 2 > Scenario 2
  • Scene 3 > Scenario 3
  • Scene 4 > Scenario 2
  • Scene 5 > Scenario 3

After imagining the Scene, go back and talk to Captain Stenwick and select the Yellow Dialogue Options. At the end of the conversation, Captain Stenwick will give you the key to the Lock. Now, go out of the back door of the mansion and go to the left side. As you turn left from the next corner, you will see the cart on the left. Now, investigate the cart to find the following pieces of evidence.

  • Wallet with saltpetre
  • Sailor’s Knot
  • Calling Card
Wallet with Saltpetre

After getting the evidence, you will unlock two new puzzles in Mind Palace. The first puzzle that you will get to solve is “What are the notable features of the abductor”. Select the following evidence to complete the puzzle.

  • Footprints in Captain Stenwick’s Garden
  • Spyglass
  • Sailor’s Knot

It will solve the puzzle and you will unlock the “Abductor is a Sailor” evidence. Now, for the second puzzle “Where does Kimihia’s trail lead?”, you need to select the following pieces of evidence to solve the puzzle.
