Starfield: Copper

Crafting new Weapon Mods and Gear Mods will cost you a lot of various kinds of minerals and resources but the one mineral that will used frequently in crafting is Copper. Copper is one of the most common resources in Starfield that can be found on tens of Planets in Starfield but players will still have to retrieve it to use in crafting.

Looking to know how you can get copper in Starfield, then you are at the right place. This guide will help you in getting Copper in Starfield.

How to Get Copper in Starfield

Copper can be obtained from three different methods in Starfield.

  • Mine Copper from various Planets with a Cutter.
  • Extract Copper from a Planet using Extractors.
  • Buy Copper from the vendors.

Initially, you will have to get copper yourself by mining it from the Copper Veins on various planets. There are several planets that you can visit early in the game to find Copper (Cu) resources on them. To view the available resources on the planets, open the Spacemap and start scanning the Planets in your surroundings to view the available resources. Once you have located Copper (Cu), fly and land on the planet to mine the Copper with your cutter.

As copper is needed in high numbers to craft various mods for your weapons and your spacesuit, it is best to put down extractors on top of one of the Copper Veins to extract copper. You can set up a small outpost on one of the planets that have Copper and can extract copper easily.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to venture onto planets and set up machines to get Copper, you can buy it directly from the vendors. There are various vendors from which you can get Copper and one of the earliest vendors from whom you can get copper is Jemison Mercantile located near the spaceport of New Atlantis. Once you have reached the New Atlantis location on Planet Jemison, go straight from the spaceport and take a left to reach the Jemison Mercantile. You can buy a decent amount of Copper at a time from the vendor and then you can reset the vendor’s stock to buy more copper.

Buying Copper is the fastest way to get Copper but if you don’t have Credits to spare to buy resources then we would recommend you mine them on your own, at least early in the game and you can buy them later in your playthrough to run your operations.
