Tears of the Kingdom Runs Smooth on Patch 1.2.0
It has almost been 3 months since the release of the Tears of the Kingdom, the latest addition to the infamous Zelda Series from Nintendo. The developers have been closely paying attention to all of the issues that players are facing throughout the game that have been continuously concerning their gameplay experience and one of them is the game performance itself.
Game Performance on Patch 1.2.0 of Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is locked to 30 FPS which delivers most of the time throughout the whole game. However, there are some areas where players faced the issue of dropping frames down to 20 FPS or even lower, making it unplayable for a few moments. The developers have addressed this issue and have been working on tweaking it so the players can experience a consistent gameplay experience throughout the whole game.
Upon the release of the latest Patch 1.2.0, a few changes have been made to the game and the performance issue was one of them. The developers have tweaked down a bit of the rendering in certain areas where players were facing the issue. One of the areas was pretty early in the game where players have to build a boat by cutting down the trees to reach the In-Isa Shrine on the Great Sky Island. By testing out the area in the new patch, we can confirm that the performance is far better than the previous patch.
The FPS does not drop down to 20 or lower as soon as players use the Ultrahand Ability. It stays at 30 FPS for most of the time and slightly gets down to 25 FPS while building the boat. We also did not feel any difference in the rendering of the area as the image quality of the area looks the same to us but it does feel smoother than the previous patch.
Another area where players felt the game performance issue was at the Kakariko Village. Players were unable to use the Ultrahand ability inside the village as the FPS drops down to 15, making it hard for the players to build something. It has also been tweaked by the developers and in Patch 1.2.0, it does feel slightly better. However, the FPS still drops down a bit if players use the Ultrahand ability for long enough.
There were also changes made in Image Quality to balance out the Game Performance for the players but the Game still looks beautiful and charming as if there were no changes were made to the quality.
