God of War Ragnarok: How to Defeat Bjorn (Boss Fight)

The God of War Ragnarok adventures through 9 different Realms and players will start their journey in the frozen lake of Svartalfheim Realm. As God of War is famous for its combat style, there are many boss fights that you get to slay in God of War Ragnarok and the very first boss that you have to defeat is Bjorn who is a Wild Bear.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to defeat Bjorn in God of War Ragnarok.

Defeating Bjorn

As you progress ahead in the game, you’ll come into a cave and after a short period of gameplay, you’ll come outside of the cave and you’ll be attacked by Bjorn and the boss fight will begin. Bear will push down Kratos in the boss fight area and will bite the arm of Kratos and you need to press the Circle (O) button key to push the bear back.

Now, this boss fight is not hard and this boss fight will also give a short tutorial on boss attacks like Red Attacks and Yellow Attacks. The Red Attacks are UNBLOCKABLE, meaning they will deal damage you even if you guarded yourself so the best bet is to dodge out of the way when Bjorn does the Red Attack. However, the Yellow Attacks cause BLOCK BREAK, meaning if the boss strike you with the yellow ring attack and you are hoarding yourself, your guard will be broken and you’ll be vulnerable to damage. But you can counter the Yellow Ring Attacks, Simply press the guard button when Bjorn is hitting you with the Yellow Ring Attack and you’ll counter Bjorn’s Attack.

Now, this fight is pretty simple since you have learned the mechanics of Boss attacks. You just need to charge yourself on Bjorn with the Axe and keep hitting him with light attacks as well as heavy attacks. Since you won’t be having any abilities at the start, you just have to attack, counter, and dodge to win this battle. Bjorn has only a couple of attacks in which he aggresses you with his claws and the other attack is a heavy attack which is the Red Ring Attack where he slams you on the ground. Dodge the Red Ring Attack and keep attacking Bjorn. Counter the claws and Yellow Ring Attacks by quickly pressing the guard button and you’ll counter his attacks and be able to hit him more with your Axe.

If you get low on HP then you can replenish it by consuming the health crystals in the boss fight area. When depleted half of Bjorn’s HP, he’ll aggress you and Kratos will get the option to go into Rage Mode. Press the L3+R3 buttons together to go into Rage Mode. Attack Bjorn to deplete his health and simply charge with the weapon. Bjorn will start to aggress you with the attacks. Dodge and counter Bjorn’s attacks and then hit him with the Axe.

In the end, you’ll automatically go into a cutscene where Kratos kills Bjorn and then the main story cutscene continues with Atreus.
