Investors sued CDPR for “misleading” statements about the state of Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt having problems in China

The class-action lawsuit is registered by Rosen, a law firm specializing in investor protection.

The authors of the lawsuit accuse CDPR of several false or “misleading” statements at once, hiding the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 on release was “virtually unplayable” on PS4 and Xbox One.

As noted by Rosen, as a result of the actions of CDPR, the game was removed from sale in the PS Store, and the publisher itself, Sony and Microsoft, had to introduce an extended refund system for this title.

As a result of these actions, CDPR suffered reputational and financial damage. The company’s statements about its business, operations and prospects were materially either false or lacking a reasonable basis. When the truth became known to market participants, CDPR investors suffered financial losses.

Rosen said that the lawsuit has already been sent to court, but until February 21, investors who consider themselves victims of the same incident can take part in it.

Earlier it became known that another law firm, Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP, is also investigating the possibility of filing a similar claim against CDPR. In total, at least four companies plan to file such claims.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10 and sold 13 million copies in the first days – despite returns and criticism from the media and owners of the console versions. At release, the game’s Metacritic rating was 90 out of 100, since the developers only sent copies to the press for PC, and later dropped to 86 out of 100. On OpenCritic, the average rating has already dropped to 77 out of 100.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
