The Quarry: Chapter 9 (The Matriarch)– All Choices & Paths

Chapter 9 continues where we left off in chapter 8, Kaitlyn is trying to find out a way to fix the van so they can get out of this place. Laura has been captured by the Hacketts and Ryan is running from the Hacketts. In this guide, we’ll tell you all the choices & paths in chapter 9.

All Choices & Paths in Chapter 9

Chapter 9 starts off with Kaitlyn and Dylan going toward the shop to find some parts for the van to fix it. Both of them will go through the woods and Dylan will feel weird about his cut-off hand. Kaitlyn will say he’ll look fine with a hook. Dylan gets two options.

1- Depressed

No one will treat me the same

2- Positive

I guess it is kind of unique

Conversation continues.

1- Curious

Think we missed our shot?

2- Reflective

Need some me-time

Then the cutscene cuts to Abi and Emma. Abi gets two options.

1- Annoyed

Cut it out, Emma

2- Curious

Why are you so positive?

Conversation continues.

1- Friendly

Oh, please

2- Curious

Is that why you do videos?

Then the cutscene cuts to Laura and Ryan. The Ma and Laura will try to struggle over the gun and we’ll get a QTE in which we have to mash the action button. By doing this we’ll shoot the Ma and kill her. Then, we’ll get a QTE in which we’ll avoid getting shot by Pa. Press the Right Cursor key to dodge the shot. But Ryan will get stabbed and we’ll get an interruption in which we’ll get the option to pull out the knife. Press the action button to pull out the knife. But there is no need to pull it out because Ryan will survive and this knife will come useful later in this chapter.

After that, we’ll get to control Ryan and we can find 2 collectibles in the room. After getting the collectibles, interact with the cabinet and then check the bed in the middle. Go through the left door and a cutscene will start in which we get two options.

Block Door
Hide

If you choose to Hide, you’ll get two more options, hide under the bed or hide inside the cabinet. The cabinet option will only appear if you have interacted with it. Hide inside the cabinet and we’ll get a breathing QTE in which we have to hold the action button until the lines on the screen disappear. After holding our breath, we’ll get out of the room but bobby will follow us. We’ll get an interruption in which we need to push the cupboard to bock the door. Mash the action button to block the door.

Then the cutscene will cut to Laura and we’ll get an interruption in which we have two choices.

Hide
Run

Running is not a good option here for Laura so you want to select the Hide option and then we’ll get a breathing QTE. Hold the action button until the lines disappear. After that, we’ll get the control of Laura and there’ll be three collectibles in the room. After getting them, go through the door to trigger a cutscene. Pa will shoot Laura but she’ll not die because she is becoming a werewolf. We’ll get three QTEs in the cutscene. For each one, you need to press the Left Cursor key. Then we’ll get two options.

Attack
Run

Running is not a good option here because on the attack option you’ll be able to kill Pa and we need to kill all of the Hackett’s members. After choosing the attack option, we’ll get an interruption in which we need to mash the action button. After doing that Pa will be dead.

Then the cutscene cuts to Ryan. Bobby Hackett will be chasing us and we’ll get a couple of QTEs. For the first one, you need to press the Left Cursor button and for the next QTE, you need to press the Right Cursor key. Then there’ll be a breathing QTE in which we have to hold the action button until the lines disappear. Then we get the interruption in which we get the option to stab. Press the action button to stab Bobby Hackett. After that, Laura will come there and talk to Ryan about his situation. Ryan will get two options.

1- Sympathetic

It’s not your fault…

2- Mocking

I didn’t want to say it…

Laura will ask Ryan to bite him so he can survive otherwise Ryan would die. Then we’ll get two options.

Accept
Decline

It is important to pick Accept because it’ll be the best option for Ryan to survive. After that, when Laura is about to bite Ryan’s arm, we’ll get an interruption in which we get the option to Pull Away. Press the action button to do it but it is important not to Pull Away. So, don’t press the action button and wait it out.

Then the cutscene cuts to Kaitlyn and Dylan in the scrapyard. We’ll get the control of Dylan and we can find three collectibles in this place. After getting the collectibles, go to the stairs leading up to the yellow crane. It’ll trigger a cutscene. Dylan will get two options.

1- Anxious

Can I have the gun?

2- Encouraging

Watch my back

Dylan will lower the car with the crane and he’ll see the motion lights lighting up and Dylan will get two options.

Warn Kaitlyn
Lift Car

Warn Kaitlyn about a werewolf coming toward her. She will get inside the car. We’ll get a QTE to lift the car up, and press the Up Cursor key to lift the car. Then Dylan will get two options.

Slam Car
Sound Horn

If you slam the car, Kaitlyn will fall from the car so, it is best to sound the horn of the crane and it will let the werewolf come to Dylan and Kaitlyn will jump on the tires. Dylan will find a torch and we’ll get an interruption in which we need to mash the action button to light it. Then the werewolf will come on the window of the crane and we’ll get a QTE in which we need to dodge the strike of the werewolf. Press the Left Cursor button to dodge the strike and Dylan will torch the werewolf. Then the werewolf will go to Kaitlyn and we’ll get an interruption in which we get the option to drop the car on the werewolf. Mash the action button to drop the car on the werewolf.

Then the cutscene cuts to Abi in the bunker. We’ll get to control Abi and there is 1 collectible here. After getting the collectible, inspect the fuse box to get Silver Bullets which will be useful later in the game. After getting that, go up the ladder to get to the next scene.

Then the cutscene will cut to Laura and Ryan finding a werewolf in the attic. Bobby Hackett will get killed by a werewolf then we’ll get the interruption to shoot a werewolf. If you don’t shoot, Ryan will die. Press the action button to shoot the werewolf. That werewolf will be Chris Hackett and Laura will get normal. Travis will not kill Laura if you have chosen the syringe path. If you have gone with shooting Travis in the cell, Travis will automatically kill Laura with the silver blade. Travis will then ask for help and Laura will get two options.
