If you have reached a point where you have learned the Wizardry Spells then you would know that there are Five virtues and you level up your character on the basis of virtues as well. All of the spells are also derived from these virtues which makes them Five Phases Affinities.

All five types of spells also have different element affect and damage against each other. Meaning, each spell type is overpowered against a specific spell type. So, the overpowered spell type can be used to counter the Wizardry Spells if an enemy is using one on you.

• Wood Phase counters Earth.
• Earth Phase counters Water.
• Water Phase counters Fire.
• Fire Phase counters Metal.
• Metal Phase counters Wood.

You will get to encounter different mage enemies throughout the game that will use all five of the spell phases. In order to counter them, you will have to use the overpowered spell against them. If an enemy is using a fire spell on you, use the water spell to counter it to deal more damage. It takes some practice to learn all the counters but it is not that difficult unless you surround yourself with all five phases elements at once.
