Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon – Combat Guide
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a new mecha-based vehicular combat game from FromSoftware. Instead of fighting regular enemies, FromSoftware has built a world in which players will get to defeat mechs and giant mech bosses. It might not be a Soulslike game but the one thing common in them is highly depth combat mechanics. As learning the combat mechanics in the Souls games is crucial, it is the same for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
In this guide, we’ll be explaining the combat mechanics that will assist you in your encounters in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
Combat Tips for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
The combat style of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is unique as players will get to control a mech right from the start of the game. There are multiple weapons that players can use in the fight to deal damage to enemies and can use a couple of abilities to evade attacks and close in gap with the enemies. There are certainly several things that players need to keep in mind during combat so, we’ll go one by one and explain them to you to simplify things.
- Right-Hand Weapon: Right-Hand Weapon is the primary weapon and players can hold the R2 Button to shoot at enemies. The Ammo of the Right-Hand Weapon is shown with an RA tag on the bottom right of the screen. At the beginning of each mission, it would not matter much but as players progress in the mission, they would have to conserve ammo and use other weapons instead.
- Right Shoulder Weapon: Right Shoulder Weapon is a secondary weapon and players can press the R1 Button to use it. At the start, players will have a Missile Launcher as a secondary weapon that they can use to shoot missiles at enemies. They can also hold down the R1 Button to lock on to multiple enemies at a time and shoot missiles at them from a distance. The Ammo for the Right Shoulder Weapon is shown with an RB tag on the bottom right of the screen.
- Left-Hand Weapon: Left-Hand Weapon is a melee weapon and players can use it by pressing the L2 Button to strike enemies at a close distance. There are various Melee Weapons that players will get to choose as they progress in the game and they can charge their attack as well by holding down the L2 Button. It is most efficient in taking down enemies that are in close vicinity. Melee Attacks can be devastating and can take down enemies in a single strike.
- Target Lock: Press the R3 Button to turn ON/OFF the target Lock. It will help players shoot precisely at targets.
- Quick Boost: Quick Boost is the ability to evade the attacks of enemies. It plays a crucial role in dodging the attacks of enemies/bosses. Press the Square Button while giving a direction with Left Stick to use Quick Boost. To use it efficiently, lock on to targets and shoot them and when they shoot back, use the quick boost in either left or right direction to evade the attacks.
- Assault Boost: Assault Boost is one of the early and pre-owned abilities in the game from the get-go. Press the L3 Button to use Assault Boost to get close to enemies. You can also use it to evade attacks as well but it consumes stamina during the period of its usage. Press the L3 Button again to stop using Assault Boost and regenerate stamina.
- Repair Kits: Another thing that is worth mentioning in combat is Repair Kits. The Repair Kit is used to repair the Armor Points (AP). Press the Up on the D-Pad to use the Repair Kit.
As players progress through the game and complete main missions, they will unlock new weapons at Weapon Bay that they can equip in their recommended slots. It is important to know what weapons you unlock in your journey because you never know how big they have an impact in combat.
