How to play Battlefield 2042 a week early

Battlefield 2042 is in the starting blocks and could be tried out in alpha over the weekend. That means: A few selected influencers and professionals were allowed to take part in a technology test and play the new shooter. Above all, the Xbox Series X is said to have performed very well technically, even better than the PC. The PS5 apparently had more serious problems, which is why the test there had to be completely canceled shortly before the start.

Battlefield 2042 supposedly runs better on Xbox Series X than on PC

Successful technology test: At the weekend, many insiders, professionals, and other chosen ones were able to try out how well an early version of Battlefield 2042 is going. At least if they were invited to the Alpha or the technology test.

Apparently, the early version went largely well, but especially on the Xbox Series X. Apparently, the Xbox version is supposed to run “smoother” than the PC version. At least that’s what the normally very reliable, well-connected and usually even better-informed journalist and insider Tom Henderson reports. In doing so, he relies on unspecified reports from others.

However, it still remains unclear which Xbox version is meant exactly. After all, Battlefield 2042 appears on two generations of Xbox consoles, each of which includes some very different devices. We don’t know whether the Xbox One version runs as smoothly and well as the Xbox Series S or even the Xbox Series X version. The PC experience can of course also vary greatly, depending on what is inside the PC.

Technology test for PS5 had to be completely canceled shortly before the start

Not a successful PS5 Alpha: Originally, the technical test was also supposed to take place on the PS5, but it didn’t even come to that. The builds had already been tested in the background in advance to enable the crossplay alpha on the weekend.

Apparently, a “critical error” was discovered in the submitted PS5 build. That’s why the alpha test phase for those with a PS5 was canceled before the start. At least that’s what the Lead Community Manager reports on Twitter:

In the context of this alpha, the first technical difficulties have already been discovered and can be resolved. After all, this is exactly what such a test is for. If you want to try the Battlefield 2042 gameplay, you will get the opportunity to do so at the Open Beta in September at the latest.
