Blasphemous 2: How Prie Dieu Altars Work

Blasphemous 2 is a side-scrolling Metroidvania indie game. It is a sequel to its original game, and players will get to continue the journey through Cvstodia. As the world of Cvstodia is filled with horrors and terrifying creatures, players will face various difficulties in their journey, which might result in the death of their character. However, the death will only take them back to the last altar, Prie Dieu, where they rested. The Prie Dieu altars play a crucial role in the adventure through different areas of Cvstodia in Blasphemous 2.
This guide will help you understand the importance of Prie Dieu altars that you find in your journey through different areas of Cvstodia in Blasphemous 2.
How Prie Dieu Altars Work in Blasphemous 2
The Prie Dieu altars are the resting points in the world of Cvstodia that you will come upon in your journey. Every area will have multiple Prie Dieu altars at different locations, where you can rest to replenish your character’s health and restore the total number of flasks. Resting at the Prie Dieu altars is the only way to save your progress in the game. If you go through the areas without resting at them, your progress will not be saved, and you will have to play from the point where you last rested when your character dies.
Apart from saving the progress and replenishing health and inventory items, you would also be able to teleport to the City of the Blessed Name later in the game. You will have to acquire the ability of fast traveling to teleport to the City of the Blessed Name from any Prie Dieu altar. This will help you teleport to the city whenever you want and can upgrade your character’s max health, increase the max number of flasks, and potency of flasks.

However, you do have to travel back to the point of the altar on foot, so you would have to be careful to reach the point from where you teleported as it is only a one-way trip. So, whenever you come across the Prie Dieu altar, press the *Up Arrow Key on the Keyboard* to rest at the altar to save your progress.
