Cyberpunk 2077 sold about 1.2 million copies from the beginning of the year to mid-April

Answering investors’ questions, the executives of CD Projekt said that they do not plan to reduce the cost of Cyberpunk 2077 in versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the foreseeable future, despite low ratings and audience dissatisfaction with the technical state of the game. They recalled that they are working on patches and in the future will allow all console buyers of Cyberpunk 2077 to upgrade to versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for free.

In this regard, CD Projekt RED studio hopes that the audience will give developers a chance to improve the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and then wait for the release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and will not rush now to massively return funds.

According to representatives of CD Projekt RED, the quality of the console versions was influenced not only by the overall busy schedule, in which for a long time much attention was paid primarily to the PC version, but also by the coronavirus pandemic, which complicated many processes, including those related to testing. The studio was engaged exclusively in the latter and on a remote basis.

The PC version has also been reflected in the reviews – CD Projekt is pleased that the reaction among PC players to Cyberpunk 2077 has been overwhelmingly positive. Although the PC version also has some issues that are now continuing to be fixed. In addition, work is underway to improve the artificial intelligence system.

Earlier, the review aggregator OpenCritic accused the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 of false marketing and withholding information about the problems of the console versions. For its part, the studio explained to investors that it could not give out to the press the keys for the console versions before the release, since they were not ready – the work continued “literally until the last minute.”

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
