Final Fantasy XVI: How to Defeat Knight of the Blinding Dawn (Boss Fight)

The Knight of the Blinding Dawn is one of the main bosses in the Prologue of Final Fantasy XVI. He is the Imperial Dragoon and players will get to fight him at the Phoenix Gate location. He is one of the formidable foes that players would have to fight very cautiously as they have greater attack power and far more HP than the regular foes.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to defeat Knight of the Blinding Dawn in Final Fantasy XVI.
How to Defeat Knight of the Blinding Dawn in Final Fantasy XVI
The fight will start with a Quick Time Event in which players would have to successfully perform the Cinematic Evasion. Press the R1 Button as soon as it prompts on the screen to evade Spear Attack of the Knight. As players get control of Clive, they would have to use the Eikon Abilities to deal with Will Damage along with Attack Damage to quickly break Knight’s Will Gauge. It is essential to break the Will Gauge of the stronger enemies to leave them vulnerable to all of the attacks to defeat them efficiently.
Use the Charged Attacks to deal more Will Damage to the Knight and as the Will Gauge reaches 50%, Knight will get partially staggered. At this point, players should unleash all of the abilities on Knight to deal as much damage as they can to fully break the Will Gauge. By breaking the Will Gauge of Knight, he will get fully staggered and go down on the floor. Repeat the process of continuously dealing damage to Knight with every ability to deal high damage to Knight before his Will Gauge fills up and he gets back up on his feet.
Once players have staggered him for the first time, the fight will have another Cinematic Fight Scene. Knight will shoot magic at Clive which will leave Knight open to damage. Players will have to press the Square Button as soon as it prompts on the screen. Completing the Cinematic Strike successfully staggers the Knight again and players would get to deal even more damage to him. Repeat the process of breaking Will Gauge of Knight to stagger him to leave him open to all of the attacks to quickly defeat him.

Knight of the Blinding Dawn Attacks
Throughout the fight, players would also have to be aware of Knight’s attacks and how to perfectly dodge and counter them. The basic attacks of Knight throughout the fight are the following.
- Lunging Strike: The knight will thrust in the forward direction with his Spear Weapon. Players can dodge this attack either by evading to the side or getting back from the range of thrust. Players can also punish this move by evading and quickly using the Phoenix Shift move to get close to Knight.
- Jumping Strike: The knight will swing the Spear in his hands and then immediately jumps in the air and strike down the spear on the ground. Evade in any direction to dodge this attack. Use Phoenix Shift ability after evading to punish the knight.
- Swing Attack: The knight will swing the spear in a circle two times. Evade in the back direction to dodge this attack. Use Phoenix Shift ability after evading to punish the knight.
Other than the basic attacks, Knight also has punishable attacks that deal more damage than regular attacks. The major attacks of Knight of the Blinding Dawn are the following.
- Jump: The knight will jump high in the air and land in the position of Clive with a spear facing down. Just before landing, lightning will appear at the position where the knight will be landing. Players will have to get away from the lightning position to dodge the Jump attack.
- Double Jump: It is similar to the Jump attack of the Knight but in this attack, the knight will do a jump attack two times. He will do two jump attacks in a row. Players will have to dodge away two times from the lightning on the ground to evade a double jump attack.

The Knight will do the Double Jump Attack after his health is depleted below 50%. Before this, he will do only a Jump Attack.
