God of War Ragnarok: What is the Use of Mystical Heirloom?

God of War Ragnarok has a lot of side quests that you can complete as you progress through the main story or later after finishing the game. As the game has crafting mechanics, you’ll find various collectibles in the Nine Realms. Some of the collectibles are a bit confusing and one of them is the Mystical Heirloom because it only works on certain things. If you use it in battle or any other than the thing that it requires, it will not do anything. So, if you are wondering what it is used for then we got you covered.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to use the Mystical Heirloom in God of War Ragnarok.

Mystical Heirloom

A Mystical Heirloom is a Relic that can only be found after progressing through the main story mission “Forging Destiny”. It is because that Mystical Heirloom is hidden and you can only open it by opening the hidden path with your Draupnir (Dripper) or in easy words “Spear”. Draupnir is created by the Dwarf brothers and then they gift it to Kratos. Draupnir is used to open the golden cracks in the stones or walls which will reveal a hidden path or area that can be explored.

You’ll see many golden cracks throughout your gameplay and you cannot open them until you got the Draupnir, once you have Draupnir, you can use its detonation ability to open the golden cracks. To find the Mystical Heirloom, you need to go to Midgard Realm and go Southwest of Tyr’s Temple. You’ll see the ice spikes with the same golden cracks. Throw the Draupnir on the crack and then use the ability to break the ice. Go ahead and you’ll find the Mystical Heirloom on the left side.

Use of Mystical Heirloom

Mystical Heirloom is a Relic and you can place it in your Relic Slot to use it but if you read its description, it says that “it seems important, but doesn’t seem to have any practical application in combat” which is a bit weird but worry not because it is IMPORTANT to get one of the best Defense Armor Set in the game.

The Mystical Heirloom is specifically used to wake up Trolls. These Trolls have been placed in different areas of Nine Realms and there are only four of them. You cannot see these Trolls’ locations on the map so you have to find them. By the time you get the Mystical Heirloom, you would have opened all of the locations where you can find these Trolls.

Blodgur Steinn (1st Troll) Location

The 1st Troll location is in Midgard and it is close to the location where you found the Mystical Heirloom. You need to go in the Southwest direction on the frozen lake to reach the Derelict Outpost. Go in the area and you need to go up from the chain and then use the blades to go to the other side. You’ll encounter some enemies, clear the enemies and there’ll be a Troll standing on the left side.

Now, make sure the Mystical Heirloom is equipped in the Relic spot and when you use it. The Troll named Blodgur Steinn will come alive. You need to kill the Troll and then gather the loot it drops. Make sure you get everything from the loot because it’ll drop a collectible named Slumber Stone which is used to craft the armor set.

Bjarg Stormr (2nd Troll) Location

The 2nd Troll location is in Alfhiem in the Forbidden Sands area. You need to clear the second sandstorm and go to the West side to find an arena filled with dead bodies. You need to go up from the ledge to find the arena and the Troll standing in the arena.

Use the Mystical Heirloom to wake up the Troll and then kill it to gather the next Slumber Stone from its body.

Golrab of the Ashes & Golrab of the Frost (3rd & 4th Troll) Location

The next two trolls can be found in the same location and their location is in Vanaheim. You can find them in Noatun’s Garden. You need to get on the boat and then dock on the beaches to clear out the enemies and then you’ll find both of the Trolls standing outside of a gate.

Use the Mystical Heirloom to wake both of them and you’ll need to fight both of them at the same time. Both of these trolls have an elemental effect and the key to defeating them is to use the opposite elemental weapon against them. Once you’ve defeated them, pick up all the useful resources and Slumber Stones.

After finding and killing all four Trolls, you’ll have four Slumber Stones and you can use them to craft the Steinbjorn Armor. This armor has a stat of Defense and if you want to become the most survivable god in the Nine Realms then you can upgrade this armor set to max and equip the defense vitality gear with it. It’ll max up your Defense Stat and you can survive through almost every dangerous fight.
