Sony removes Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS4/PS5 Store and will refund the money to those who request it

Sony has removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store on PS4 and PS5 and has announced that it will refund all users who request it.

Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most anticipated games of the generation has also had one of the most eventful launches. A few days after arriving at the shops, and due to the state of the game on PS4 and Xbox One, CD Projekt promised to give the money back to all those who requested it. The thing was not too clear, as the Polish studio has no control over the physical and digital shops on different platforms.

Now, Sony has just announced in an official statement (which you can check here) that it will give the money back to all those who buy Cyberpunk 2077 through PlayStation Store and request it. And in an unprecedented move (we don’t recall anything similar having been done before), the company has also announced that it is withdrawing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice. This means that for the moment it is not possible to purchase a digital copy of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 and PS5.

“SIE aims to achieve a high level of consumer satisfaction, so we will offer a full refund to all players who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store. SIE will also be withdrawing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store until further notice.

Once we have confirmed that you have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that the finalization of your refund may vary depending on your payment method and financial institution.

We’ve just checked our consoles and Cyberpunk 2077 is no longer listed anywhere.

CD Projekt Red has also reported this event in one of its already famous “yellow communications”. In this publication, they confirmed what Sony had said and presented the web address to which to apply for a refund of the game. From the company, they assure that they are working to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PS Store as soon as possible.

As you may know, the reason for this is the disappointing state of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077, where besides a lot of bugs (some of them funny, others not so funny), the CD Projekt’s work performs far below the expectations with framerate problems that prevent from enjoying the experience and constant crashing.

Another very different story is the PC version, where the game has managed to live up to and even exceed expectations becoming one of the best RPGs of the generation both in terms of its technical aspects and its setting, great character development, and variety of missions.
