The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was the most successful in the history of Steam — more than a million people played the game at the same time

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on Steam on the night of December 9-10.

At the time of writing, the game is played simultaneously by a little more than 880 thousand people, the second most successful launch, Fallout 4, had a result of 471 thousand players.

For comparison, the previous major release of CD Projekt RED on Steam, “the Witcher 3”, had 92 thousand simultaneous players on the release.

In terms of the total number of simultaneous players, Cyberpunk 2077 is still in fourth place. RPGs are ahead of Dota 2 (1.2 million), CS: GO (1.3 million), and PUBG (3.2 million).

However, it is worth noting that all three finalists are multiplayer games, while Cyberpunk 2077 is exclusively a single-player action RPG. It is also worth considering that the RPG is still out in GOG and Epic Games Store, and therefore the total number of players on the PC should be much higher.
