The Past Within is a Co-Op Point and Click adventure set in the mysterious world of Rusty Lake. Both of the players will get to choose one of the sides between Past and Future. The players will make a successful connection at the end of the first chapter and then the second chapter will start.
In this guide, we’ll be covering the second chapter of the Past Within game.
We’ll denote both of the players with the side that they chose. One player will be the Past and the other player will be Future.
The second chapter starts from where chapter 1 ends but in this chapter Past gets to use the device in which we placed the Bone, Flesh, and Blood in the first chapter, and Future will be able to explore the laboratory in which he is. At the start of the chapter, Future will find some papers on the table and there’ll be a code written on the paper that Past needs to enter into the machine. Past needs to rotate the machine to the right side and will find the Resurrection Process terms in which he has to enter the code to transfer the Bone, Flesh, and Blood. The Code that Past needs to enter by using the 6 buttons is “Z1X23Y”.
After putting in the code, the next note will appear in which 9 buttons are shown with 6 of them highlighted. Past needs to tell Future that he needs to get the Black Cube from the machine and place it in C-9 where he’ll be able to press the buttons. When Future zooms out of the machine, a Black Cube will come out of the device. Pick up the cube and the matchbox from the table and switch the area of the room to a big machine. Click on the console on the right side of the machine to zoom in and you’ll see C-9. Place the Black Cube in the empty place on the side of the buttons and then press the buttons in the following order.
- 1st and 3rd button in 1st row
- 1st and 3rd button in 2nd row
- 1st and 3rd button in 3rd row
After pressing the buttons, Future will see flashbacks of chapter 1 in the cube and then the Shadow of Albert will come inside the cylinder of the big machine. Now, Future needs to click on the clock under the console and press the button to reset the hands of the clock. Now, Past needs to zoom out and click below on the eye shape with three color movable switches around it. The hands of the clock on Future’s side also have the same color. White, Red, and Black. Future needs to tell the position of each hand to Past so he can place the same color switch on the position of the same hand on the clock. Put the Black switch on 11, put the Red switch on 1, and put the White switch on 3. By placing the buttons in the right position, Past will be able to see through the eye to Future’s side and will see Albert’s Shadow in the cylinder and a Lady Scientist.
Zooming out from the eye will reveal a music key to the Past. Pick up the music key and then rotate to the next side of the machine. Click on the lower side and place the music key and then drag it to open the compartment which will reveal a piano and “78.3” written above it. The number is indicating the radio frequency and Future needs to switch the side of the room where are the lockers. There’ll be a radio above the lockers. Click on the radio and adjust the frequency to 78.3. Future will see musical notes on the screen and he needs to tell those notes to Past so he can play those notes on the piano. The notes that Past has to play are “AGAB” on the piano.
After playing the notes, the numbers of the frequency will change and the new numbers will be “114.3”. Future needs to change frequency to 114.3 and he’ll see new Musical Notes on the screen. Future needs to tell the notes to the Past and the Past needs to play “CDEG” on the piano. The frequency will change again and the new frequency that Future needs to set on the radio is “103.7”. After changing the frequency on the radio, Past has to play “EDEC” on the piano. The frequency will change again and this time Future needs to set the radio to “89.1”. Past needs to play “BAGA” on the piano which will reveal a Tooth Key.
Pick up the Tooth Key and rotate it back to the front of the device and insert the Tooth Key in the Bone Substance lock. Insert the key and rotate it to close the compartment and Past will see different positions of switches. Now, Future needs to switch the side of the room to another big machine from where he’ll get all the substances that Past has collected. Click on the lower compartment of the machine and you’ll see six movable switches. Future needs to ask for the positions of the switches from the Past and set them in the following positions to get the tooth.
- 1st switch to 3rd block
- 2nd switch to 1st block
- 3rd switch to 2nd block
- 4th switch to 2nd block
- 5th switch to 1st block
- 6th switch to 3rd block
After placing all the switches in the correct positions, Future will get the Tooth in the machine that Past has sent from the Cubical Device. There’ll also be chalk inside the compartment so pick up the chalk and go to the blackboard which is on the right side of the lockers. Use the chalk on the Blackboard to draw different shapes and a code on the bottom left. Now, Past needs to rotate the device and enter the code “X3Z1Y2” and a new note will come that has different keywords underlined. Past needs to tell those keywords to Future and Future needs to use the chalk on the shape of those keywords that he drew on the blackboard. Future needs to circle the shapes in the following order.
- Coffin – 2nd shape in 1st row
- Eyes – 6th shape in 2nd row
- Soul – 4th shape in 3rd row
- Cube – 6th shape in 1st row
- Future – 5th shape in 3rd row
- Bone – 5th shape in 2nd row
- Flesh – 3rd shape in 2nd row
- Blood – 3rd shape in 3rd row
After encircling all the correct shapes in the order, the last shape in the 3rd row which is the hammer will come real and you’ll get to pick the Hammer. Now, go back to the machine and use the Hammer on the tooth to break it, and then use the vacuum pipe on the left side to suck all the pieces and transfer them inside the cylinder with Shadow of Albert. A light will start blinking under the clock, use the switch under the Bone light to transfer the bones inside the cylinder. Now, reset the time of the clock and the three hands of the clock will stop at different positions. Now, Past needs to place the three movable switches around the eye according to the time on the clock. Past needs to place the White switch on 1, the Black switch on 4, and the Red switch on 6.
A Nut Driver will appear on the right side, pick up the nut driver and go to the back of the device and open the four nuts with it. He’ll see a mechanism with metal cogs but some metal pieces are missing. Now, Future needs to zoom out of the machine and he’ll see rats on the floor. Follow the rat to the other side and come back to the machine side, he’ll see that one of the rats goes inside the broken tile. Click on the broken tile and he’ll find a key. Place the key in the Right Locker to open it. There’ll be some blueprints on the top shelf of the locker. In the blueprints, Future will see the three hidden metal cogs. All metal cogs are hidden inside the frame of the device. Past needs to rotate to the front side and one cog is hidden on the left side of the blood substance and one cog is hidden on top of the flesh substance. Switch back to the mechanical side of the device and the last cog will be hidden on the left side inside the frame.
Place all three cogs in the missing metal cogs place and then rotate the handle of the mechanism. A doll will come down and after clicking on the doll a couple of times, the doll will fell down as well as the hook. Pick up the hook and go to the front side of the device and attach the hook above the flesh substance. Now, use the handle on the right to control the hook. Push the handle down to attach the ear with the hook and then push the handle upward to pull up the ear. A new board will appear that has three columns and each column has 5 notches.
Now, Future needs to use the computer on the second shelf of the locker. Press the button to turn on the screen and the computer will ask if the person in the past got the missing gears. Press the down key and Future will see the Hook, Ear, and a diagram of the notches. Future needs to tell the placing of all the notches in the diagram to Past so he can set the notches in the correct positions. Past needs to place the notches in the following order.
- 5th Notch in 1st Column
- 2nd Notch in 2nd Column
- 2nd Notch in 3rd Column
After placing the notches in the correct positions, a new block will appear with arrows that Future has to enter into the computer. Future needs to press the arrows in the following order.
- Right Arrow
- Left Arrow
- Left Arrow
- Up Arrow
- Right Arrow
- Down Arrow
After entering the correct arrow keys, the next screen will have a hook in the top left corner and a code written in the bottom left corner. Future needs to tell the code to Past so he can enter the machine to get the next clue. Past needs to enter the code “Y3X1Z2” into the device and the note will come down with a diagram of the blocks with a correct path on it. The path has three destinations on it. 1, 2, and 3. Future needs to control the hook by using the arrow keys and go to all of the destinations in order. Past will have to tell the correct path to the Future and after the Future has gone through all of the three destinations, the ear will come down in the room of the future.
Future needs to change the side of the room and he’ll see the big ear in the room. There’ll be a glass on the ground right next to the pipe. Pick up the glass and go back to the locker side in the room. Click on the drawers of the table and open the second drawer to find a Scalpel. Take the Scalpel and go back to the ear. Cut a piece of Flesh from the ear with the Scalpel and then go back to the table on the right side of the lockers. Click on the table and Future will see a screen saying missing heat. Use the matches on the gas burner to light it up and then screen will say missing coffee.
Now, switch the side to the cubical device and click on the device and the device will explode and turn into ash. Pick up the ash and switch to the locker side and put the ash in the coffee maker on the last shelf of the locker to make the coffee. Now, place the coffee on the table and the screen will say missing Water. Now, switch to the Ear side and use the sink to fill the water in the empty glass. Now, place the glass filled with water on the table and the screen will say missing Flesh. Place the Piece of Flesh in the plate and the screen will display Step 1 which will be a code that past needs to enter on his side of the device.
Tell the code to Past and he’ll enter the code “3X2Z1Y” in the device and Step 1 will be shown in which all the liquids are shown. Future has to pour the liquids on the flesh in the following order.
- Hot Coffee
Pour the green acid into the water then place the coffee on the burner to heat it and then pour it on the flesh. After that, the screen will display the code for Step 2. Future needs to tell the code to Past and Past needs to enter the code “1Y3X2Z” in the device and Step 2 will be shown. Past needs to tell the order of liquids of the Rectangular Flesh. Future needs to pour the liquids on Flesh in the following order.
- Hot Water
After pouring the liquids on the rectangular Flesh, step 3 will start showing on the screen with a new code. Tell the code to Past and then he needs to enter the code in the device to see step 3. Past needs to enter the code “2Z1X3Y” in the device and step 3 will be shown. Past needs to tell the order of liquids of the Flesh with Pimples to Future. Future needs to pour the liquids on Flesh in the following order.
- Hot Acid
- Hot Acid
After pouring the liquids on the Flesh with Pimples, the step 4 code will start showing on the screen. Future needs to tell the code to Past to see the new step. Past needs to enter the code “1Y2X3Z” in the device and step 4 will be shown. Past needs to tell the order of liquids in the Mouth. Future needs to pour the liquids into the mouth in the following order.
After pouring the liquids, all step will be completed and the flesh will start to move and go into the pipe and then go into the cylinder and on to the bones of Albert. Future needs to press the Flesh button on the machine and then reset the clock. Future needs to tell the positions of the hands of the clock to Past so he can place the buttons in the exact same positions as the hands. Past needs to place the White switch to 12, Red switch to 10, and Black switch to 7.
Past will find a Valve that can be placed on the left side of the Blood Substance. Open the valve by rotating it to transfer all the blood from the bottle to a console through pipes on the left side. Pull the lever to open the console and Past will see different shapes on the console. Future will need to switch through the sides of the room and a butterfly will come in the room from the vent and will throw a locker on a mouse. Click on the mouse to get the key for the locker on the left side. Use the key on the locker to open it and pick up the Valve.
Now, switch the sides and go to the big machine where you got the tooth click on the middle of the machine and place the valve. Rotate the valve to open the cover. Click on it to zoom in on the console and Future will also have similar things as Past but Future’s console has symbols on the buttons and Past’s console has shaped. Both of them have to turn on the machine and the needle on the meter will go to full and gradually goes down but Past and Future both will have to share the information of the Symbol and Shape they both see on their ends with each other before the needle goes to red. When they successfully press the correct symbol and Shape, they both will have to press the pump above the buttons to reset the timer of the needle. The shapes and the symbols that both of them have to press are in the following order.
Past (Shapes): Butterfly, Eye, Reindeer, Soul, Crow, Heart, Tree, House.
Future (Symbols): 4th button in 1st row, 1st button in 1st row, 3rd button in 1st row, 4th button in 2nd row, 3rd button in 2nd row, 1st button in 2nd row, 2nd button in 2nd row, 2nd button in 1st row.
After pressing the buttons in order, the blood will fill in the bag, and then it’ll transfer to the cylinder. Future needs to press the Blood button on the machine and reset the Clock. Past needs to place the switches in the same positions as the hands of the clock. Past needs to place the Black switch to 9, the White switch to 5, and the Red switch to 3. Past will get a Hex Key after placing the switches in the correct positions. Past needs to rotate to the back side of the device where he used the previous console for the blood substance. Use the Hex Key above the console to unlock the cover and the scope will come out of the cover.
Future needs to press the console where the black cube is placed and Past needs to look in the scope. Future will see a candle in the black mirror, Past needs to switch the scope to Candle Stand and tell the highlighted buttons on the right side to Future. Future needs to enter the buttons in the following order.
- 2nd button in 1st row
- 3rd button in 2nd row
- 2nd button in 3rd row
After pushing the correct buttons, Future will see a chess piece in the black cube. Past needs to switch the scope to chess pieces and tell the code of buttons. The buttons that future needs to press are the following.
- 1st button in 2nd row
- 2nd and 3rd button in 3rd row
After that, future will see the clock in the Black Cube. Past needs to switch the scope to the clock and tell the code of buttons to future. Future needs to press the following buttons.
- 1st and 2nd button in 1st row
- 2nd button in 3rd row
After that, future will see a red rose in the black cube. Past needs to switch the scope to the red rose and tell the code of buttons to future. Future needs to press the following buttons.
- 1st and 2nd button in 1st row
- 1st and 3rd button in 3rd row
After that, Albert will break out of the cylinder and goes into the locker. Switch to the locker screen and Albert will come out of the locker and will tell you that they are not done yet. He’ll tell you that they need to find a way out and will tell you to look into his pocket. Click on the pocket and you’ll see a code. Tell the code to Past to enter it into the device. Past needs to enter the code “3XY21Z” in the device. The device will show a note with underlined keywords and Past needs to tell these keywords to Future so he can encircle them on the blackboard with the chalk. The shapes that Future needs to encircle are the following.
- Eyes – 6th shape in 2nd row
- Future – 5th shape in 3rd row
- Mask – 1st shape in 3rd row
- Gems – 1st shape in 1st row
- Cube – 6th shape in 1st row
After encircling the correct shapes in order, a Golden Key will drop down. Pick up the Golden Key and unlock the box locked with a golden lock in the locker. Future will find Music Mask, Deer Mask, and Snow Mask in the box of Albert. Switch the side to find Albert and he’ll tell you to give him a mask. Give the Snow Mask to Albert and a Butterfly will come out of the device on Past’s screen. Butterflies will sit on the butterfly logo and under the logo, there are substances containers. They’ll open and each one of them has a different body piece with a slot of the gem.
Future needs to switch to the machine and reset the time. Future needs to tell the time to Past so he can place the switches according to the hands of the clock. Past needs to place the White switch to 11, Black switch to 2, and Red switch to 4. Past will find a Voodoo Needle after placing the switches in the correct positions. Now, Past needs to insert the Voodoo needle inside the left eye of the doll. Push the needle down into the eye of the doll to reveal a white gem.
Place the White Gem inside the left body piece. Now, Future needs to place the Deer Mask on Albert and a diagram of notches will appear on the blackboard. Tell the positions of notches to Past so he can set the notches in the matching positions. Past needs to go to the front of the device and click on the board with the notches. Past needs to place the notches in the following positions.
- 5th Notch in 1st column
- 4th Notch in 2nd column
- 1st Notch in 3rd column
After putting all the notches in the correct positions, Past will get a Red Gem. Place the Red Gem inside the middle body piece. Now, Future needs to place the Music Mask on Albert and the radio will turn on and Future will see the Musical Notes. Future needs to tell the Musical Notes to Past so he can play the Notes on the piano. Right under the body pieces, there is a piano that Past needs to play. Past needs to play the “FGDC” notes on the piano and will get the Golden Gem.
Place the Golden Gem in the right body piece and all of the body pieces will start to spin. A golden cube will come out of the device and the shadow of Albert will hold the golden cube. Past will see a combination of buttons on the golden cube. Past needs to tell the combination to Future. Future needs to take the music mask from Albert and then go to the machine and click on the black cube. Future needs to press the buttons in the following order to release the black cube from the machine.
- 1st and 3rd button in 1st row
- All three buttons in the 2nd row
The black cube will get released from C-9 and then go to Albert and give him the Black Cube. He’ll tell you to look closely at the cubes because the way out is through these cubes. He’ll tell both the Future and the Past to click and hold the cube for 10 seconds and after looking at the cubes for 10 seconds and a loop will start of Albert and its shadow holding the cube.
After the loop, the game will say that you’ve reached the end by answering a couple of questions at the end, both Albert and Rose will combine together and turn them into a tree concluding the game.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to Open Eye Chests
There are many things in the Hogwarts Legacy that players can do and one of the things that players will find while exploring and roaming around Hogwarts is the Eye Chest. Eye Chests can be found in every area of the Hogwarts Map and Hogsmeade Map but players will not be able to open the chest due to getting noticed by the chest. The only way to open the chest is to get close to it without getting noticed by the Eye of the chest.

Opening Eye Chests
Almost all the players will have noticed the big Eye Chests in Hogwarts as well as in Hogsmeade when they started playing the game. However, players will not be able to open the Eye Chest because it would have shown the locked sign which is a bit confusing. Players will might though that they needed to find a certain key for it that is not what it requires.
The Eye Chests will notice anyone who tries to get close to them and they will lock themselves. You would have noticed that if you get close to it the eye opens and immediately shut. It is because the chest locks themselves and the simple idea of unlocking them is to not get noticed by them.
The Key will not be required for these chests but the thing that is required is a __ Disillusionment Spell. As there are many spells in the game, they have several uses out of the combat as well. Disillusionment Spell works like an Invisible Cloak but it does not completely make your character invisible it is hard to see or notice anyone if someone is using the spell. The Disillusionment Spell works perfectly on the Eye Chests and they will not be able to notice you getting close to them if you are using the spell.
However, you do need to approach the chest by walking because if you run, they will lock themselves at the sound of your running towards them. Simply cast the Disillusionment Spell and just walk up to the Eye Chest and search it to get Gold or Useful Items.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to Get Disillusionment Spell
One of the key elements in the Wizarding World is Spell and there are many Spells in Hogwarts Legacy that players will learn throughout their gameplay. One of the spells which are useful for getting out of trouble without being seen or heard is Disillusionment which can be learned later in the game.

Getting Disillusionment Spell
Disillusionment Spell is one of the spells in the game that can be learned in the main quest “Secrets of the Restricted Section”. This quest is mainly from Professor Fig which will be unlocked after you have completed your Potion Class with Professor Sharp. Once you have unlocked this quest, you need to go to Professor’s Fig office and talk to him. He will tell you that he wants to go to the Restricted Section but he will hold by the Headmaster of Hogwarts.
Now, you will have to go to Sebastian and ask him how to get to the Restricted Section. You will have to go over some dialogues and after that, you will meet Sebastian at the Center Hall at night. Go to Sebastian and talk with him and he will tell you the Disillusionment Spell.
Since it will be your first time casting this spell, you will have to learn it just like the other spells. Move your mouse or Right Stick of the Controller along the direction on the screen and press the required buttons. Once you have completed the learning process, it will be unlocked in your Spells List. Now, you need to assign the Disillusionment on one of the slots of Spell Diamond and then you will be able to cast it by pressing the corresponding button.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to Brew Potions
In the Wizarding World of Hogwarts Legacy, there are a lot of things that players can do. One of the other things rather than casting spells is Brewing Potions. Players can learn to brew different kinds of potions with different uses which can come in handy in different scenarios.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to Brew Potions in Hogwarts Legacy.
Unlock Brew Potions
Potions can only be brewed on Potions Station which will unlock when you attend the Potion Class. The first Potion Class will be compulsory and it will be a main quest of the story so, players will get to attend the class as they progress through the story.
Once they have unlocked the Potions Class quest, go to the Potions Class and you will get to meet Professor Sharp who is the teacher of Potions. He will teach you a new potion called Edurus Potion which you will have to make in class. By interacting with the Potions Station, you will unlock it and you will see the potions that can be brewed on your right side.
Once you have unlocked the Potions Station, you will be able to Brew the Potions for which you the recipe. You need to go to the Potions Station and interact with it to view the known recipes of the Potions. After that, you need to select the potion you need to brew but make sure that you have all the required ingredients for the potion. You cannot brew the potions if you do not have the required ingredients.
Once you have the ingredients of the Recipe, you need to select the Recipe to start brewing the potion. Each Potion will take some time so, you will have to wait for some time until your potion is brewed. However, you can leave the Potions Station and do some other things while your potion is brewing.
How to Get Recipes of Potions
To unlock more recipes of Potions, you will have to progress ahead in the game or you can also buy the Recipes from J. Pippin’s Potion Shop in Hogsmeade. But potions recipe costs a decent amount of gold so make sure to have enough amount of gold for the recipe that you want to unlock.
You can also unlock the potions recipe by completing the Combat challenges. You will have to defeat certain numbers of different kinds of enemies to unlock different recipes. You will complete these challenges as you progress further in the game so focus on progressing in the game to unlock the recipes.
