Lost Ark: How to increase iLvL gear level

Once you’ve reached level 50 on Lost Ark, you’ve probably noticed that content is blocked based on your gear level (your iLvL), so we’ll explain how to increase your gear level.

Update: Updated February 15.

Why increase the level of equipment in Lost Ark

In Lost Ark, the majority of content is blocked based on your iLvl. This will therefore be your main occupation for most of the PvE. Fortunately, it is relatively simple. At least, in the first levels.

In Lost Ark, what defines your PvE progress is the level of your equipment. It gives an overview of your overall level, where you are and of course, it will give an idea of your damage. An iLvl 1000 character will inevitably (and significantly) do much more damage than an iLvl 400.

What equipment to increase?

When you reach Chateau-Bern, you will unlock a lot of content. If you don’t know how to unlock these different contents, we redirect you to our “What to do at level 50” guide.

So you got your first set of tier 1 equipment (the T1 ) in your first chaos dungeons. This set of rare equipment is basic at level 250. To reach the next level, T2, you will have to level your equipment up to iLvl 600. Then T3 will be at iLvl 1100.

Basically, the iLvl is divided as follows according to the continents:

0 – 250: Main story
250 – 302: Start of quests in Bern Nord
302 – 460: Bern Nord
460 – 600: Rohendel
600 – 960: Yorn
960 – 1100: Feiton
1100+: Punika

The components needed to increase your iLvL

Once you get your 250 gear from dungeons, you’ll need to level it up to iLvl 302 to unlock Guardian Raids and farm the components needed to increase your iLvl.

You will need to collect:

  • Harmony Fragments
  • Harmonious Leap Stones
  • Guardian Stone
  • Fragments – Destruction Stone Fragments

Some of these components are exchangeable. We advise you to farm dungeons and raids to recover them and transfer them to your main character, you will go much faster than with just one. Once you’ve acquired your components, it’s time to finally get to the heart of the matter: equipment refining.

Refine your gear in Lost Ark

To refine your equipment, you will have to go see the refining NPC south of Chateau-Bern symbolized by a small hammer on your map.

This NPC will explain to you during a quest sequence that if you refine your equipment, it will go up iLvl. You can even transfer your refinement to another piece of equipment if needed. So to refine your equipment, it happens in two steps:

First step:
– Improve the piece of equipment from 0% to 100% thanks to the fragments of harmony.

Second step:
– Refine the equipment by leveling up the room thanks to the fragments of stone of the guardian and stones of a leap of harmony. Except for the weapon which will ask for Destroy Stone Fragments instead of Guardian Stone Fragments.

GG, you have just leveled up your piece of equipment, and therefore it’s iLvl. You will have to repeat these steps until you have your equipment fully +15. Once at this point, your iLvl will be 600 and you can upgrade to T2.

Be careful though. In the beginning, you will have a 100% chance of success to increase your equipment. And when you go up to level 7, you will see your chances drop by 10%. Then 10% less at each level. Your chances of increasing your equipment, therefore, drop drastically as you level up.

Finally, we advise you to level the equipment of only one character at a time. Passing Yorn and Refining dedicated to area gear will unlock research in your Stronghold that will greatly help improve Refine chance on your other characters while reducing the cost of certain components.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
